Responsible for ensuring internal control activities are effective and in compliance with relevant standards and AIA corporate objectives

Support the Head of OTSG and Head of Operations Governance in:

  • Implementing adequate monitoring & governance of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance requirements within first line of defense (FLOD)

  • Advising and providing recommendations to Ops SLTs, Ops Governance team and FLOD on matters related to operations AML compliance

  • Documenting and tracking FLOD ongoing AML & WLF challenges, escalation, exceptions and tracked to completion/resolution

  • Supporting and following up with FLOD to ensure the smooth implementation of AML & Sanctions policies and procedures

  • Providing training to Ops Governance & FLOD staff in performing AML & Compliance tasks in alignment with designated KPIs & KRIs

  • Executing quality reviews to ensure AML & Sanctions risks/ potential gaps are effectively addressed

  • Coordinating and facilitating risk related initiatives and Operations outsourcing governance review

Responsibilities:

  • Review, evaluate, develop, implement, maintain and verify internal and business controls for processes, systems, financial statements, journals and reports

  • Identify internal control gaps and initiate appropriate remedial actions

  • Work with internal stakeholders to strengthen control procedures

  • Liaise with internal and external auditors on internal control issues

  • Ensure that documentation for all processes across AIA is reviewed and updated periodically

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or Business with 8 to 15 years work experience in the Banking / Insurance sector handling AML & Sanctions compliance, risk management and/or controls
  • AML / Sanctions certifications (such as ACAMS) and knowledge of insurance operations is preferred
  • Good interpersonal, communication skills and self-motivated
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English and local language
  • Possess leadership, coaching and influencing skills
  • High level of integrity and take ownership and accountability of results
