SUMMARY
The Manager, Quality Engineering, directs the product integrity strategy for quality assurance to ensure compliance, safety, and quality for all Kids2 products. This role utilizes a data-driven approach to continually improve products and processes to enhance customer satisfaction and the overall Kids2 consumer experience. This role leads the Quality Engineering Team to ensure Kids II products comply with the defined company requirements, international safety standards and client requirements according to the company schedules & resources.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Analyze and solve outstanding quality issues from development stages, production and after-sales with associated parties.
- Review regulation/standard updated & new product category requirements with Product Integrity team to assure related requirement implemented per schedule – with minimal expense.
- Sustaining in issues from Customer Experience Team and Sales Teams.
- Support on VCB with agreed CS data document
- Compliance on special requirements such as FDA 510(K) and CCC (China Market).
- Compliance issues on 3rd party Pre-shipment inspection on some customers.Other duties & responsibilities as assigned.
- Review in-house testing, testing by vendors & 3rd party testing on toy products and ensure testing to be completed to fulfill Kids II Testing Matrix, toy regulation and client’s requirements.
- Manage In Quality Engineering Team to ensure Kids II’s products (such as Bouncer, Rocker, Stationary Activity Center, Swing, Walker, Play Yard, Bassinet, Change Table, Inclined Sleeper, High Chair, Booster Seat, Toys component) comply with the defined company requirements, international safety standards (such as CPSIA & ASTM F2167, F3084, F2012, F2088, F977, F406, F2194, F2338, F3118, F404, F2640; F963, SOR-2016-152, SOR-2016-189; SOR/2011-17; AS/NZS 2195, AS 4684, AS/NZS ISO 8124-1; EN12790, EN16232, EN1273, EN12227, EN1130, EN14988, EN16120, EN71-1, EN62115, EU Toys Directive, FCC, ICES, FDA, EMC) and client requirements (Such as Wal-Mart, TRU, Target, Amazon, Carrefour, Mother Care, Argos) according to the company schedules.
- Ensure relevant quality documents (such as QRB Report, QCS, EU DOC & 3rd Party Lab Reports) are available.
- Work with team member to make sure outstanding issues in EP/FEP/PP stage resolved and closed.
- Review for related revision on “Product Change”, toy regulations and client's requirements.
- Summarize additional / impact (testing cost & sample size) on Kids II current products in time frame per revision on toy regulations and client's requirements.
- Issue summary of revision on toy regulations and client's requirements and presented to team member & vendors so as to ensure valid compliance can be achieved for shipments.
- Review testing scope and testing purpose on additional requirement from client, principal test trial & test cost on additional requirement within tight time frame.
- Implement testing requirement into product testing.
- Identify the root cause by reviewing the issues with MS /QC/PE/vendors within tight time frame.
- Get valid corrective action from related parties/supplier within tight time frame.
- Present valid corrective action to all related parties (such as Clients, Vendors, US PI, MS & QC & etc.) within tight timeframe.
- Review with US Customer Experience Team on corrective action summary weekly.
- Check CS data files in supplier sharepoint monthly and update to US PI team if no update.
- Review monthly CS data in supplier sharepoint and provide CS data to suppliers and follow up on comments from suppliers.
- Sort out Top items per supplier CS data weekly and issue Top item CS summary including return defectives record & QC inspection record & CS phone call analysis etc.) to Management team to support on VCB in time frame
- Support the review on new customers.
- Review new product category requirement with US Product Integrity team to insure related requirement understand thoroughly between US and China.
- Other duties & responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 6+ years working experience in quality field. Previous experience in USA firm is preferred.
- 2+ years working experience on Quality Supervisor/Manager position.
- CPSIA & ASTM F2012, F963, EU Toys Directive, FCC, ICES, FDA, EMC) etc. is a plus.
- Experience is quality tools and methods (root cause analysis, SPC, Six Sigma, TQM)
- Prior experience in building global relationships and a collaborative team environment
- Familiarity with international safety standard in Child Care Article and Toys industry (such as CPSIA & ASTM F2167, F3084, F2012, F2088, F977, F406, F2194, F2338, F3118, F404, F2640; F963, SOR-2016-152, SOR-2016-189; SOR/2011-17; AS/NZS 2195, AS 4684, AS/NZS ISO 8124-1; EN12790, EN16232, EN1273, EN12227, EN1130, EN14988, EN16120, EN71-1, EN62115, EU Toys Directive, FCC, ICES, FDA, EMC) etc. is a plus.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Management or Engineering (Mechanical / Manufacturing / Electronics / Industrial) or equivalent work-related experience is required.
- Prior experience in building global relationships and a collaborative team environment Must be familiar with quality management system ISO 9000.
- Ability to execute and excel in high-paced organization
- Ability to deal with changing environments, tight timelines and multiple priorities
- Outstanding oral and presentation-based communication skills
- Excellent communication skills with good command of spoken and written English. Cantonese speaking is preferred.
- Able to work independently and under pressure.
- Good team player.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from ASQ or similar certification body preferred, but not required
- Lean and/or Six Sigma Certification preferred, but not required
COMPUTER/TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Experience with statistical analysis software packages, i.e., Minitab or similar
