INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

The Innovation and Technology Development Office (ITDO) supports the University’s mission to develop, translate and apply technology arising from its research. We spark innovation, turn intractable problems into opportunities, and synergize research and business acumen by fostering:
(i) the advancement of major research and development initiatives with knowledge transfer potential as well as the governance and management of intellectual properties of the University;
(ii) the creation of innovative technology development and transfer opportunities through collaborative platform building and the engagement in and facilitation of collaborative research with government and non-government organizations, the industry and business communities; and
(iii) the management of the overall operational and administrative work for PolyU’s strategic R&D Cluster Centres.
Duties
The appointee will be under the supervision of the Director of Innovation and Technology Development or his/her delegates, and will be required to:
(a) assist with the operations of the strategic R&D Cluster Centres;
(b) oversee the marketing and promotional activities of the Centres, including technology exchange workshops and seminars, stakeholder engagement activities, conferences, media relations activities, briefings, interviews, and handling of media enquiries;
(c) support the Centres in building strong and effective relationships, and serve as a key liaison person with internal and external partners at all levels; and
(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Innovation and Technology Development or his/her delegates from time to time.
The appointee will be required to work beyond normal office hours when necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Business, Communication and/or Marketing;
(b) have excellent coordination skills with relevant working experience, normally not less than six years of supervisory experience;
(c) be a good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
(d) possess the ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment; and
(e) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
