Description

Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.

Objectives of the Position

Reporting to Head of Regional Supply Chain Management, Care Chemicals Asia Pacific, you will:

  • Be the regional Caretaker for the logistics operations process
  • Enable safe, compliant and cost-effective logistics by supporting continuous process improvement with growth, high customer satisfaction and transparency
  • Job Responsibilities

    Site Logistics

  • Drive site logistics optimization in the area of filling, bulk operations, packaging, surface transportation warehousing; coordinate with relevant stakeholder on process optimization project
  • Validate functional process requirement definition from an end to end perspective
  • Support the development of new and innovative improvement solutions; facilitate necessary changes of the process and as IT interfaces between Site Logistic and solution providers
  • Ensure leveraging of best practices and the global BASF strategy across sites by creating business process expert communities; actively participate in the process innovative network
  • As regional Business Expert, prioritize solutions and support outsourcing wherever advantageous
  • Supply Chain Logistics Requisitioner

  • Define and consolidate regional Care Chemicals business logistics services requirement, collect the demand forecast, submit and review with procurement
  • Prepare for tender, review and analyze the result; monitor the utilization of contract capacity
  • Manage the performance and relationship with the Logistics Service Provider; update freight table with input to business pricing tool
  • Packaging Optimization

  • Set up the regional packaging database with the standing specifications maintained
  • Define, operate and monitor the application process; Develop handling manual for improving customer safety
  • Prepare and collect yearly purchasing report to identify issues and areas of improvement; drive optimization project for cost saving
  • Supply Chain Operational Excellence and Cost Optimization

  • Ensure efficient logistics set up across all supply points in the region and continuously improve operations by involving functional expert teams
  • Identify cost driver and initiate cost saving measures in storage, shipping, charges handling, sales administration expense and recommend programs to improve the economic performance of individual activities with data analysis
  • Logistics Digitalization Officer

  • Evaluate latest digitalization technology applicable for site logistics e.g. automation and logistics Technology, and introduce tools for work optimization; as owner for access right with cost control
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/ Logistics Management or related discipline
  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience in Supply Chain Management
  • Candidate with 5 years of leadership track record is preferred
  • Experience in consulting/ Project Management, Business Process Management and Improvement, Supply Chain Operations and Logistics Management
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and lead through influence
  • Self-motivated, analytical, have the ability to identify and structure issues with problem solving and forward-thinking mindset
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
