AKG Thermal Systems (Taicang) Co., Ltd, is a 100% subsidiary of the German AKG Group and has been successful in China for more than 20 years. With a strong in-house engineering team, we offer cooling solutions to local and Global Key Accounts. We export 75% of our sales, serving industries like construction equipment, high-speed trains, high-performance cars, and agriculture.
The Manager of Strategic Purchasing reports to the Managing Director of AKG Taicang, with dotted line to Head of Global Purchasing in Hofgeismar, Germany (HQ).

Job Description

• Develop global sourcing strategy of AKG Group for Chinese suppliers together with global purchasing team of headquarters
• Establish and nurture relationships with key business stakeholders in Taicang and other AKG sites to facilitate further development and execution of sourcing strategy
• Constant analysis of Chinese supplier market (aluminum, bought-in parts, equipment etc.) and evaluation for local and global demands
• Perform supplier pre-audits of new potential suppliers
• Prepare and support common supplier audits (together with representatives from global purchasing team) in mainland China
• Support and execute complete RfQ-process for global sourcing activities
• Further development of existing and new global Chinese suppliers
• Establish clear and measurable goals focused on continuous improvement in cost, quality, and performance
• Lead and develop local operative purchasing team (3 – 4 employees)
• Negotiation of major supplier contracts (local and global) and vendor agreements, as agreed with global purchasing team of headquarters
• Close cooperation with purchasing teams of other AKG companies

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, sourcing or related field
• Several years of experience in sourcing, procurement or supplier development in international industry
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build authentic and trusted relationships within organization as well as with external business partners
• Endurance, negotiation skills, reliability
• Fluency in Mandarin and English (word and writing), German knowledge as advantage
• Willingness to travel, sometimes internationally
