Eaton is seeking a Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting to join our team in Beachwood, Ohio. Hybrid work schedule available. This position is a valuable member of the Eaton Technical Accounting and Reporting Department, a specialized team within the Controller’s group responsible for preparing Eaton’s Forms 10-K and 10-Q to be filed with the SEC, and researching, implementing and advising on complex technical accounting matters. As part of this team, the Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting plays a critical role in the preparation of the Form 10-K and 10-Q consolidated financial statements, related footnotes, and MD&A, the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, and researching technical accounting topics that impact Eaton’s global operations. In this role you will: Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of the quarterly and annual financial reporting required by the SEC (Form 10-K, 10-Q, etc.), Ireland Companies Act (Irish Statutory Report) and government regulations for Eaton and certain subsidiaries. Perform research and assist in providing guidance on technical accounting matters that impact Eaton’s global operations, businesses and corporate functions as needed. Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of the quarterly earnings releases filed with the SEC on Form 8-K and review of the related quarterly earnings release presentations to investors and shareholders. Manage special projects, including implementation of new accounting standard by researching technical accounting requirements, partnering and providing oversight to project implementation teams comprised of other departments and business operations working to adopt the new standard, and resolve issues identified during and subsequent to the adoption. Monitor activities of the FASB and SEC; and analyze new accounting pronouncements in order to determine the impact to Eaton’s financial statements and disclosures. Gather required support necessary to prepare Eaton’s consolidated financial statements, related footnotes, and supplement schedules. Coordinate and provide supporting documents to the company’s external auditors for their quarterly reviews and annual audit of Eaton’s consolidated financial statements and annual Irish Statutory Report. Manage the department’s SEC filing reporting calendar and relating supporting documentation to be obtained from the company’s business segment team and corporate departments, including tax, treasury, corporate controller, and reporting & analysis. Manage Workiva (cloud-based SEC filing software) processes for Forms 8-K, 10-Q, and 10-K. Manage the annual statutory financial statements required for certain Puerto Rico subsidiaries of Eaton. Lead the annual and quarterly U.S. government census reporting, including managing the team’s resources in India. Why work at Eaton? Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure is required 7 years of experience in accounting, with 3 years of public accounting experience No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Beachwood, OH will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and within the future Preferred Qualifications Advanced education (e.g., Master’s degree in Accounting) Experience with a large accounting firm (i.e., “Big 4”) Experience with SEC reporting requirements, including preparation and/or review of Form 10-K and Form 10-Q filings. Experience working with, or for, a large, multi-national corporation. Significant knowledge of U.S. GAAP, FASB pronouncements and SEC rules and regulations. Ability to utilize different search engines, web-based programs, and other sources of information for accounting and SEC reporting research. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and similar word-processing and spreadsheet-based applications. Experience working with Workiva, FCCS, SAP and Oracle preferred. Position Criteria Quickly learn new programs or applications is beneficial. Strong verbal and written communication, a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, competing priorities.
