Eaton’s Industrial Sector – Aerospace, Vehicle and eMobility Division is currently seeking a Manager of Public Affairs to join our team. Remote work available. Position Overview: Eaton is a power management company made up of over 92,000 employees, doing business in more than 175 countries. The Manager of Public Affairs, Industrial Sector will create and implement strategies for building and protecting Eaton’s interests at the U.S. federal government level pertaining to Eaton’s Aerospace Vehicle and eMobility businesses. Develops and manages relationships with government agencies, elected officials and their staffs. Engages with key Industrial Sector trade associations active in the public affairs arena to ensure that Eaton’s views are adequately expressed. Proactively identifies key legislative and regulatory issues impacting Industrial Sector businesses, and partners with Vice President of Public Affairs and operations and business leaders to create advocacy plans. Interacts with Eaton operations to facilitate greater involvement by Eaton executives with elected officials. Engages and manages outside resources (lobbying firms and trade associations). Assists the Vice President of Public Affairs on key issues as needed. Key Eaton outcomes: driving legislative, procurement and regulatory change that positively impacts Eaton sales; mitigating the impact of any regulatory/trade burdens on Eaton; and analyzing federal defense budgets impact on Eaton sales and forecast. In this role you will: Proactively identifies key legislative and regulatory issues impacting Eaton, with a focus on aerospace and motor vehicle legislation/regulation, and partners with business leaders to create appropriate advocacy plans. (Key issues are those in which federal budgets, legislation or government regulation can impact sales or costs of Industrial Sector businesses.) Develops relationships with regulators and public officials who can have an impact on Industrial Sector businesses, with a goal of influencing polices that impact Eaton sales, as well as mitigating the impact of any polices and regulatory burdens on Eaton. Provides guidance and counsel to business leaders on the business impact of government policy, the federal budget, and regulations Leads Eaton’s “Key Contact Program”, connecting senior Eaton leaders with their elected officials. Manages relationships with key trade associations that operate in the public affairs space to maximize the value/impact of the associations’ public affairs activities for Eaton. Communicates effectively with internal Eaton stakeholders across all business and functional levels. Assists with Eaton’s “grassroots” lobbying strategies, including the way we engage our employees on key issues. Engages and directs lobbying firms as needed to address identified key public affairs issues. Assists the Vice President of Public Affairs on managing significant Federal public affairs issues as needed to support Eaton corporate functions. Assists in the management of Eaton’s Political Action Committee as needed. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution 5+ years as a government affairs professional and/or key staff member of a member of a federal office holder or governmental agency Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship Preferred Qualifications Ten (10) years’ experience as a government affairs professional, trade association lobbyist and/or key staff member of a member of a federal holder or governmental agency related to Aerospace and Defense issues Experience in corporate government affairs Position Criteria Understanding of how federal government budget, polices and regulations can affect business sales and operations Keen understanding of federal budget, legislative and regulatory processes impacting the defense industry; experience in automotive and electrification policy a plus Interest in and understanding of Eaton’s businesses, and the ability to function as a “bridge” between the regulatory/legislative world and Eaton’s business environment Outstanding relationship building and communications skills Ability to anticipate emerging issues and develop strategies to respond to them We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
