Description of Lifecycle Management


What links development, production, market, and customer functions? The Lifecycle Management (LCM) Department. We're creating ONE company flow by steering projects hand-in-hand with teams throughout the organization from the initial project idea to project realization and through to final production.
LCM is involved in the product strategy, Business Strategy, Connectivity and e-Mobility. These functions are composed of 8 departments (6 in Japan, 2 in India) with a headcount of ca. 160 people.

Today’s product portfolio already includes several services like “Truckonnect” and the remote vehicle diagnostic solution “Telediagnostics”. In addition, we provide the technical foundation for other departments like Quality Management to achieve their vision.
 
We are looking for you as our lead for the “Technical/IT” team, which covers design, specification, development and implementation of Software including the maintenance and further development of our End2End infrastructure including Backend and Frontend of Truckonnect. As a leader you define the development of the technical strategy and define the necessary roles & skillset of our growing team. Job Description

Manage the team:
- Set up and develop the team

- Direct and manage the team

- Guide to the team members and monitor progress to ensure that output/deliverables are aligned and enable the overall strategy and requirements of the Connectivity department

- Plan and control headcount and budget

- Set targets and control achievement, ensure that agreed goals agreed are accomplished

- Monitor and improve processes


Lead the team:
- Lead, motivate and promote the assigned employees on the basis of the model by means of target agreements and performance evaluations formally and informally

- Ensure team members are engaged and motivated in a complex and time pressured environment with moving targets

- Create an environment where team members are able to think out of the box, identify innovative solutions while ensuring committed deadlines are met in time, cost & quality

- Assure a target-oriented internal communication

- Assure an employee and task-related qualification

- Guarantee the compliance of all group and location orientated policies (safety and environmental protection regulations, working time order, integrity code, guidelines etc.) according to current regulations/documents. Brief or instruct all assigned employees about the corresponding regulations. Observe or check the correct realization.


Look ahead:
- Identify innovative solutions to enable Connectivity. Lead and guide the team to:

- translate functional requirements from internal and external stakeholders into technical requirements

- identify and assess potential options that meet the requirements

- support management in decision making considering several aspects like cost, functionalities, innovation, timely readiness, etc.

- stay up to date on current and future developments and technological advances that could be of use to generate a competitive advantage for the Connectivity customer offering


Design and Specify: 


- Lead and guide the team to:

- identify a best-fit design considering several complex technical and functional requirements, several vehicle platforms and various stakeholders

- specify and design the hardware components (including the software components that run on the firmware) from an end-to-end perspective

- design innovative and new solutions that generate a competitive advantage for the overall Connectivity customer offering


Develop and implement the technical solutions.
Lead and guide the team to:
- Develop and implement the hardware components and required technical solutions inhouse and in collaboration with suppliers

- Monitor the development/implementation process (in-house/suppliers) to ensure components are available with the right functionalities, at minimum cost and within timelines

- Ensure hardware solutions are implemented smoothly into the vehicles

Job requirements


Practical experience
- Strong experience in large scale System Design through different layers (infrastructure, application design etc.)

- Strong experience in common design patterns as Microservice, DDD etc. and the common challenges & considerations which has to be taken for a design decision

- Strong experience in Cloud native application design approaches, familiar with approaches like “resiliency over availability”

- Experience in defining of SLI, SLO and SLA and application design strategies to monitor and achieve those

- Hands-on experience with SQL and NOSQL Databases

- Strong hands-on experience in one or more general purpose languages like Java, Scala, Golang

- Strong experience in one or more Public Clouds like AWS, Azure, GCP

- Experience with Container related technologies like docker, kubernetes etc.

- Ideally have solid experience with Infrastructure as a Code and orchestration and configuration tools like Terraform, Puppet, Ansible or similar

- Ideally have solid experience with different CI/CD toolchains and common security concepts

- Willingness to travel in Japan and abroad

- Fluent in English, Japanese beneficial
