Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Mississauga, ON location. Position Overview: Responsible for optimization of the manufacturing processes for the Canadian Satellite plants through use of both technical knowledge and Eaton’s lean manufacturing techniques to achieve annual manufacturing goals, while reducing costs. In this function you will: Instruct and train manufacturing personnel on new or revised manufacturing methods & equipment Aid in resolution of daily Production technical challenges Deliver aggressive annual cost savings, while enhancing safety & product quality, through creation, optimization, and standardization of components, processes, and modules/sub-assemblies Determine best utilization of equipment, facilities, material flow and personnel Contribute to development & maintenance of front-end automation tools to maximize Order Engineering efficiency & error-proofing Maintenance of line for assigned product(s). Includes updating standard bill of material (BOM/drawings/models) and issuing of Engineering Change Notifications (ECN’s) & Product Directives as required; Regularly audit existing BOM’s to proactively validate & enhance accuracy Support continuous improvement efforts through the creation & maintenance of Process Maps, Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (pFMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), Control Plans, and Workstation Safety Risk Assessments (WSRA) for assigned product line(s) Compile complete cost analyses for projects based on hourly rates, burden and material costs, cost of new machine tools, and handling of equipment to systematically eliminate waste/cost while leveraging Lean tools. This includes specifications for such items as layouts, tooling, machine tools, and material Recommend acquisition and/or disposition of equipment and facilities, as required, and maintain applicable records Assist Customer Engineering Design in the implementation of new products, where required Take necessary measures to improve the quality of product and information Other duties as required. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university Minimum of 2 years of experience required in manufacturing engineering or process improvement No Sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical or Industrial Engineering 1 year of experience using and interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code, and applicable CSA & UL Standards 1 year of technical experience with Low Voltage Power Distribution Products 1 year experience of working in design-for-manufacturing or an Engineered-to-Order environment 1 year experience with Lean and Six Sigma Tools, Six Sigma Green or Black belt Experience using AutoDesk Inventor Professional Engineer Certification (P.Eng.) or Engineer in Training (EIT) Position Criteria: Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment as part of a team. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem solving skills. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite. Strong technical aptitude of electrical distribution and control systems. Effective time management, prioritization and project management skills.
