Job Title: Manufacturing Excellence Manager

Report to: Plant manager

Business Unit: DNP

Location: Fengxian, Shanghai

The Challenge:

• B6 production comes along with very harmful and toxic substances such as carbon monoxide and cyanic acid but also teratogenic substances as for example formamide. The handling of these chemicals requires increased safety awareness and perfect training of all people involved, high technical safety standards and suitable safety procedures such emergency response plans and an emergency organization at the Xinghuo site.
• Regulatory requirements for GMP standards in plant design are increasingly adding complexity and cost. One of the major challenges is to fulfill regulations from external authorities (e.g. ICHQ7A), internal requirements as well as customer expectations without increasing costs to the same level of competition.
• The required technical availability of the plant is >95% asset utilization which is at the upper range of similar chemical production plants. Manufacturing at lowest costs has to achieved given the high cost pressure in the water soluble vitamins market. This requires daily review of operational parameters.
  

The Position:

• To work in a SHE & security responsible manner and report all SHE & security incidents. This includes but is not limited to the following:

• Follow the national and company regulations and standards
• Conscientiously participate safety training to improve safety operation skills
• Consciously follow the company safety regulations and any violation of the rules is forbidden
• Get to know the security policies & requirements; Actively participate in all security trainings to gain knowledge and improve awareness
• Follow the security requirements and report if not clear
• Execute company SHE, occupational hygiene, related security and emergency procedures
• Execute company work attendance rule
• Study operation skills and continuously improve self SHE & security awareness
• Report timely unsafe situations, any SHE/security accident, incident & near miss.

• Follow DSM security policy and requirements

• Translate policy into own work plan within day shift operations group
• Training and coaching to first line supervisor and make sure policies are understood
• Ensure all operational controls are in place， including but not limited at: implementation of objects management; key management; information management; physical control of area/building

• Be responsible for Manufacturing Excellence development in B6 plant.
• Improve B6 plant Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) by coordinating all relevant resources, e.g. overviewing troubleshooting for different steps.
• Address technical issues with technical departments (IP, SP, maintenance, R&D).
• Be responsible to develop LEAN culture in B6 plant by developing 5S, Manufacturing Excellence practices, visual control, etc.
• Act as a link to Maintenance to improve efficiency between Production and Maintenance, e.g. coordinating for Turn Around.
• Coach LSS projects for XH site as LSS black belt
• Prepare daily/monthly production data, prepare production statistics.
• Implement other tasks appointed by line manager.
  

The Ideal:

• Bachelor of science in chemistry or Bachelor degree in process engineering
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in pharmaceutical and/or chemical industries.
• Knowledge and experience in own discipline
• Experience in manufacturing environment, especially with a focus on GMP and high plant availability.
• Good people manager and leadership skills
• Good command of PC skills, good reading and written English skills and basic oral English
• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent capability to motivate and maintain a positive work environment to ensure greater individual productivity
