Siemens Mobility US is looking for aspiring manufacturing engineers to come aboard for a 10–12-week internship journey where they will get exposure to what happens behind the scenes to make the rail world go round. During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the manufacturing department where you will learn to evaluate design specifications as they apply to manufacturing, evaluate process risk, engineering risk out of a process and process control. A little bit about us Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems. The manufacturing team translates customer requirements and engineering specifications into customer deliverable products through a lean manufacturing concept to drive customer value. What you will do… Analyze product specifications and clarify manufacturing requirements with R&D, Engineering and/or Product Management. Provide support to capacity planning and customer complaint investigations overseeing manufacturing validation activities and driving continuous improvements. Analyze safety, quality, and delivery metrics to determine process performance. Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control plan. Conduct improvement projects in conjunction with business excellence, engineering, and external vendors or service providers. Plan tools, equipment, IT needed and designs or contributes to design of the manufacturing workflow. Ensure appropriate process documentation to include standardize work, PFMEA, process capability, time studies, control plans and value stream map. Participate in NPI design reviews providing input on manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT) of new products. Recommend product modifications needed to increase efficiency of production and contribute to re-engineering efforts.
