As well as discovering, mining and processing many of the essential raw materials that enable, support and enhance modern life, our global business is involved in selling and marketing products – copper, platinum and other precious metals, iron ore, coal, nickel and diamonds. Through our Marketing Business, we are able to offer innovative solutions to meet our customers’ specific challenges. This includes physical products, logistics and technical support, as well as pricing and financing solutions. 

A business development analyst is charged with performing analytical tasks for the purpose of providing strategic support to business development to support Marketing BU and the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Anglo American Marketing, AARTC and Group business development initiatives.
• Participate in China deep dive studies and AARTC operation-related studies as directed by Principal Analyst.
• Contribute to Anglo American, Marketing and Group’s understanding to the China market; facilitate internal communication and contribute to brand building in China. 
• Analyse business models and evaluate country strategies, for identifying market risks and opportunities; perform competitor analysis toward increased market share, new profit model and best practice.
• Routine research and analysis of China macroeconomic performance and policy movements.
• Engage and collaborate with stakeholders across the business in pursuit of our purpose and burning ambition.

What's required?

• Knowledge of, and experience with research on macroeconomy, policies, supply chain, technology, minerals and metals market, commodity applications, our customers and their requirements and how we deliver value.
• Understand every element of the marketing value chain, financial concepts and appropriate risk management, and applies this knowledge to achieve business success and growth.
• Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders and to work collaboratively with individuals in a matrix environment.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
• Proficient in Excel and PPT; knowledge of Python, EViews, or PowerBI is a plus.
