Job Description



The Global Market Development manager for Cell and Gene Therapy is a member of the global Market Development team responsible for implementation of cross business & division marketing initiatives & strategy to generate demand for the Cell and Gene Therapy market. S/he will lead the development and execution of marketing plans that focus on applications, workflows or technical research areas that feature the core technologies across the company. Identifying opportunities to position technologies together to help our customers advance their research is key to this position.

The successful candidate will be a results-oriented leader and will coordinate closely with teams across multiple divisions, and partner at various levels in the company to develop and execute marketing plans and positioning. Additionally, s/he will partner with regional teams, R & D, Corporate Marketing, and Sales to execute integrated marketing programs designed to help achieve our marketing, and revenue goals. S/he acts as project lead and liaison to internal and outside vendors, maintaining excellent professional relationships, in order to facilitate the conversion of marketing ideas and messages into effective marketing programs leading to revenue, improved customer intimacy, and growth in a dynamic environment. Channel responsibility includes but not limited to digital marketing, sales, collateral, direct and events. Scope is global position with strong interaction with our regional partners. The successful candidate will have experience in cell therapy and/or gene therapy with strong marketing and exceptional communication and execution skills paired with exceptional organizational skills and business acumen to achieve goals on time.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Gathers feedback/ insights from market research, customers, product management, R&D and other counterparts, to identify new emerging applications trends, research areas or workflow opportunities. Having a scientific education is key and the candidate will need to be proficient and comfortable discussing the core applications with our scientists and customers then using this information to drive a broader business/market development strategy for that application or area of research.
  • Owning and executing a key campaign focused around a disease or research area such as immune cell therapies, stem cell therapies and gene therapies.
  • Achieves financial and market goals for designated portfolio. Performs detail analysis & routine reporting around business performance and segmentation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams as an individual contributor to develop marketing plans that drive growth for specific research application areas.
  • Maintain a designated budget and provide metrics to ensure strong return on investment.
  • Develop messaging & tools that communicate the value/brand directly to customers through all available channels.

SKILLS and REQUIREMENTS

Required: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences preferably in the discipline of molecular and/or cell biology with 5+ years experience in a marketing role or combination

Ability to drive results across the division and organization. Identifies as a tenacious personality who enjoys influencing broader teams without direct authority. Is proficient in problem solving, proactively answers questions, gain cooperation of others and implement efficient solutions.

Has a strong technical background with thorough functional understanding of the corporate market functions, planning and strategy, and in depth knowledge of life science research markets with knowledge of competitors.

Preferred: Masters/PhD in a life science area and/or MBA in marketing or business

Preferred: Experience working in a global highly matrixed organization.

  • Participate consistently and play an active positive role in working through various levels of operating mechanisms to include internal and external partners to achieve goals of the company, customer, and colleagues.
  • Ability to lead and provide functional area guidance and expertise to the broader team.
  • Provide regularly oral and written communication of metrics, successes, failures, best practices etc to improve the overall operating efficiency of the team.
  • Must be willing to learn and take coaching from peers and supervisors/superiors, both in success and failure.
  • Must have a results driven attitude, as well as the ability to overcome failures to produce success with a “never give up” approach.

TIME MANAGEMENT

  • Field travel as necessary (up to 25% Global Travel as necessary)
  • Utilize proven organizational skills to successfully manage multiple marketing initiatives

Location: This position can located in Carlsbad, CA, Lafayette, CO; Logan, UT; Eugene, OR; Pittsburgh, PA; Rockford, IL  or possible alternative work location and does not provide relocation assistance. Prefered location Carlsbad, CA
