Purpose of Role:

A critical part of the Market Insights team that supports information-based business decisions through a product management approach by overseeing a comprehensive data strategy for the purpose of unearthing key insights that drive profitability.

This individual will be responsible for identifying and delivering analytics capabilities by utilizing corporate tools, key stakeholders, and multiple data providers to build a cohesive data strategy and ecosystem for the Marketing Team.

The position also requires a strong knowledge base in data analysis and the pet category in order to manage the creation of a user-centric data system for the Marketing Team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage a roadmap for Market Insights data and analytics.
  • Capture, refine, and prioritize new product requirements and bug-fixes in the Product Backlog as User Stories with Acceptance Criteria, including wireframes, psd's, technical specifications, and any other information necessary for the development and configuration of User Stories.
  • Ensure data and analytics is focused on delivering against business value targets, collaborating to find solutions best suited for stakeholder needs and delivering excellent user experience and adoption.
  • Provide leadership for a team of developers, engineers, and scientists.
  • Drive Product Management approach and help the team set up the proper organization to support this approach.
  • Drive user-centricity by ensuring technology and process decisions are right the for the market and end user.

 

Context & Scope:

  • This role will partner closely with the Market Insights Team to make the data strategy come to life and implement the various analytics products that are needed to support the Marketing Team. In addition, this role will partner with data and analytics delivery teams to ensure the products are being delivered to realize the expected business benefits on time, within budget, and within scope. This role will recommend the data environment and process strategies to allow agility and innovation on one hand, and scale and automation/predictability on the other.   
  • This role will use its extensive knowledge of Mars Petcare reporting environments to upskill the Marketing Team and ensure a culture of data-driven decisions.

 

What are we looking for?

 

Minimum Qualifications

•                Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

•                3-5 years working experience in data-driven insights generation, data management, and analytics

•                Excellent written, oral, presentation, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

•                MBA or Advanced degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, etc.

•                Product Management courses and certification strongly preferred, e.g., CSPO

 

 

•                Experience working in environment where creating collaboration and influence are required for generating results

•                Experience with vendor management

•                Experience managing big data sets, combining multiple data sources, and leveraging sources to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations

•                Prior experience working with Nielsen/IRI/GFK data sources, or other primary data sources from internal reporting systems

•                Comfort around modelling techniques and advanced applied skills

•                Proficiency with SQL, Python, and/or other programming languages

•                Working knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI

•                Curiosity and passion for solving business problems as well as analyzing data

•                Self-directed, motivated, organized, and able to handle multiple projects at once

•                Ability to thrive in a fast paced, ambiguous environment
