What will you do?

Thermo Fisher Scientific is in need of a talented Scientific Marketing Content Specialist to support the growth of our Pharma Services Division. This role will be responsible for creating client-focused marketing copy for both outbound and inbound marketing channels, with a focus on increasing engagement and driving conversions including whitepapers, website copy, email copy, blog posts, and more. Supporting the digital, demand generation, and events teams, the Content Specialist will customize messaging to match the target audience. We are looking for someone who will help us expand our digital footprint and drive more value through our digital content.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Deliver a single, coherent brand voice across all our marketing content and channels.
  • Work with technical subject matter experts, service line marketing, and demand generation on the ideation and creation of new, compelling content.
  • Collaborate with external publishers/partners on joint development and syndication of content.
  • Responsible for adapting technical whitepapers, presentations, webinars, videos, etc. to marketing copy for use in demand generation channels, including:
    • Marketing Emails: short, compelling summaries of papers to attract our audience to download full articles. Would include subject lines and preheader text to increase open rates, and call to actions to increase click rates.
    • Events/Webinars: abstracts that strike a balance between technical detail and promotional copy to drive registrations.
    • Ads/Landing Pages: summaries encouraging our audience to download the full paper.
    • Blog: adapt content for use as a blog entry to drive website traffic and engagement.
    • Website: help generate and review webpage copy to increase site engagement and improve SEO.
  • Develop and implement content marketing and messaging best practices.
  • Proofread client-facing marketing materials for grammatical accuracy and tone.
  • Analyze content marketing metrics and make data-driven recommendations (A/B Testing of digital copy).

How will you get there?
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field
Experience:
 
  • 4+ years’ experience writing marketing content in Life Sciences, IT or other technical industry (blogs, emails, webpages). Trade publication writing a plus.
  • Ability to work/communicate through inter and cross department collaboration.
  • Ability to balance a high level of creativity, with data-driven audience insights.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment-to-quality mindset.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously under short deadlines.

Additional Preferences:

  • Previous experience at a life sciences company or trade publication preferred
  • Knowledge of challenger sales and marketing model
  • Project management experience
