Job Description for Design & Innovation Center Project Manager

Position Summary: The Design & Innovation Center Project Manager provides support to the smooth operation of a brand-new Design & Innovation Center at an international school in Changshu. S/he is responsible for managing external relations, projects and providing administrative assistance for the team at Design & Innovation Center.

The position requires strong communication, collaboration, research and problem-solving skills including the ability to respond independently to constant challenges and changes while maintaining discretion and professionalism at all times. Knowledge and experience in Design and Innovation or experience at a Makerspace is an advantage.

Project Management Responsibilities:

• Support the Center Director in developing collaboration opportunities and liaising with local designers, industry experts and contractors in the Jiangsu/ Shanghai region
• Assisting in the organization of all Center events and outreach initiatives
• Assist in the conduct of research on Design Education and compiling other related research materials for the resource library
• Working with the marketing department on managing internal and external communications related to the Center
• Any other tasks deemed necessary by the Center Director to support teachers and students

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Oversee, coordinate and perform day-to-day Center administrative functions
• Provide secretarial assistance to the Center Director by relieving him or her of administrative tasks
• Operate, maintain and develop financial procedures and systems of the Center
• Responsible for the arrangement of the Center’s events and curriculum schedule
• Attend Center meetings and take minutes of meetings

Qualifications, experience, competencies and skills:

• University degree level education.
• Strong command of both oral and written English and Chinese
• Demonstrated interest in developments in Design and Innovation
• Experience in an administrative role with proven success, experience in a school environment or Makerspace a plus
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse staff, students and parents
• Good communication skills, honesty and reliability
• Good computer skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of ICT applications a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Capacity to work independently and meet deadlines
• Flexibility and the ability to manage a range of different tasks simultaneously
• Ability to operate effectively and sensitively in a cross-cultural work-place environment.
