Job Description
Eaton is currently seeking a Master Designer to join our team. This hybrid position is based out of our Menomonee Falls, WI location. Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the work location(s) listed on this posting. No relocation is being offered for this role. Position Overview: The Master Designer will be using CAD-based tools to interpret and create layouts & detailed drawings of raw materials, parts, assemblies, electronic bills-of-material, wiring diagrams, schematics, publications, labels, and specifications, as assigned by the design services manager under the guidance of marketing, manufacturing, and development engineers. You will be an integral part of a cross-functional team, working on designs for the release of new product development projects, manufacturing plant cost out, and maintenance projects. You will contribute to and be responsible for overall Mechanical and/or electrical design drafting using CAD tools, meet drafting standard requirements, provide technical solutions, and follow defined processes. You will also support project teams from a design capacity and provide expertise in developing new electronic and/or mechanical products, to cost out, improve and maintain existing products, and advance the state of the art in a design consistent with manufacturing and agency standards, and business objectives. In this function you will: Prepares drawings with provided instructions defined by the project team. Produces design layouts and documentation for the construction and testing of prototype models and evaluates designs for fits, tolerance stack, volume, etc., using CAD tools Experience in Mechanical Drafting, process enhancement, 2D and 3D modeling tools (preference to CREO and Inventor; SolidWorks & AutoCAD a plus) Familiarity with ENOVIA PLM or similar PLM tool Ability to make changes and additions to existing drawings and diagrams according to requirements. Communicates technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders; strong verbal communication and documentation skills are required. Ability to create and interpret detailed drawings and layouts of raw materials, parts, assemblies, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other specifications set by the project team under the guidance of Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing. Ensure that all designs and materials are correct & complete. Responsible for and produces technically and procedurally neat and accurate documentation Initiate, prepare, and/or process engineering change orders for drawing & model release, and ability to process engineering deviations to facilitate manufacture, purchase, and assembly of Eaton parts. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related field 5 year's experience in engineered drafting work using CAD tools 2 years of Designer experience Preferred Qualifications: Design tools including CREO, Inventor, Solidworks, and AutoCAD. Experience using EPlan (ProPanel, SmartWire) and/or AutoCAD Electrical a plus; MS Office Applications; knowledge of ENOIVA (or PLM equivalent); 2+ years of Senior Designer experience preferred 7 year's experience in engineered drafting work using CAD tools Familiarity with agency standards such as UL, NEMA, IEC, etc; working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on molded part design & PCB packaging. DFSS is also a plus. Excellent creative ability, accuracy, and sound judgment; demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills; proactively seeks to improve processes wherever possible; a desire to grow within a design organization Why work at Eaton?
