Job Description
Eaton Corporation has an opening for a Master Designer - Machine Innovation Department - Vehicle Group, located at Bosconero site (TO). The Master Designer is responsible to design equipment and machines, in terms of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics. The activity is performed in strict and direct cooperation with the rest of EMIC team, especially Controls engineers (for automation and electronics) and Mechanical assembling team, and the external suppliers as appropriate. Essential Functions: Design of the machines (components, sub-assembly and assembly) Prepare the preliminary project/design First sketch of the idea Data collection for all specifications, requirements, tech standards, drawings, previous components/machines, etc Define the draft technical specifications of the project Investigate the market, catalogues of components Prepare the draft bill of material and list of all components Prepare the preliminary project and share it with the Customer Deploy and complete the final project/design Prepare the drawings (CAD) and schemes for all project key solutions, with alternative options as appropriate Share with the team and eventually Customers for review, integration, agreement Update and better specify the technical specifications of the project Update and better specify the bill of material and list of components Elaborate the final project Estimate costs together with SCM Complete the execution project/design Prepare all execution drawings Prepare all detailed drawings (with dimensions, tolerances, surface, etc) Finalize the bill of material B. Definition of the bill of materials for the mechanical components, including the market research and relationship with suppliers (requests for quotation and budgeting) Ensure for all machines the continuous update, improvement and alignment with current technologies available on the market Proactively search the market and investigate with potential suppliers for innovative solutions for Eaton machines Pursue Eaton buy Eaton opportunities as much as possible (use Eaton components in the machines) Ensure high focus on safety and respect of EU laws on Machine building (machinery directive “Direttiva costruzione machine“, CE Marking), in addition to Eaton MESH internal requirements Drive continued innovation in Eaton’s machines for valve making processes C. Prepare requests for quotation and requests for purchase in order to interact with external suppliers and internal SCM Dpt (Sourcing Council for purchasing components and sub-assemblies of the project/equipment). Act as the technical contact with suppliers D. Support to Customers (Eaton plants), especially in terms of drawings and data availability and technical support (spare parts new machines, maintenance, etc) E. Support to Suppliers that have been selected for the execution, machining, assembling of components and sub-assemblies Qualifications Engineering Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s) is a plus, but not strictly necessary Preferred previous experience in technical offices and especially machine design and building, knowledge of machines, machine components, supplier available in the market, state of the art existing solutions Strong technical knowledge of design and project definition, mechanical drawings, CAD-CAM, 3D design, Pro/E preferred, 2D Autocad, pneumatics and hydraulics, software SPAC, automation and electronics (PLC knowledge, motors and drivers) is a plus Basic knowledge of valve manufacturing process is a plus (it will be in any case part of the development plant and initial training plan) Knowledge of CE Marking and safety standards to be applied into design Italian and English speaking What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
