Job Description

Multimodal Dialog and Interactions Team in Intelligent Systems Research Lab, Intel Labs focuses on inter-disciplinary research spanning Conversational AI and Cognitive Computing to create Human/AI collaborative systems that can amplify human potential and create sustainable and transparent Conversational AI solutions. We utilize multi-modal signals (e.g. vision, audio, speech, language) and human in the loop methods to create Conversational AI systems and solutions for situated understanding, dialog and interactions. We conduct fundamental and applied research in the context of vertical domains including manufacturing, education, enterprise, and assistive computing.

MDI is looking for an Intern with experience in deep learning and human computer interaction domain who can help with the research being conducted in one or more of MDI's focus areas.

The successful candidate will be working on the topic of representation learning and interactive labeling in specific vertical domains like education and/or enterprise collaboration domain. In this position you will have the opportunity to conduct research on building tools and proof of concepts for interactive learning and labeling systems. You will be running experiments utilizing clustering, active learning and human in the loop learning. If needed, and you will be researching fundamental concepts and methods for mixed-initiative initeractive systems, building and evaluating systems and proofs-of-concept that will allow for the deployment of scalable approaches in real settings. This research will enable validation of the ideas and the publication of findings in both internal and external venues.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Enrolled in a MS or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any related field.
1+year experience in Deep Learning, i.e. Natural Language Processing, Dialog Systems, Natural Language Generation, Multimodal Representation Learning
Working knowledge of widely utilized AI frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Caffe)
Knowledge of Python and/or C++ languages, and Linux OS

Preferred Qualifications:
1+ year experience in building NLP systems
Knowledge of novel paradigms beyond supervised learning, such as weakly supervised multimodal learning, Human in the loop approach, and unsupervised methods Experience in Multimodal Representation Learning based techniques at the intersection of Speech, Vision and Dialog Systems
Knowledge of NLP techniques such as natural language understanding, dialog management and natural language generation
Knowledge of Signal Processing and Speech Understanding techniques such as Speaker Identification and Diarization
1+ year experience with Human-Computer Interaction methods and best practices
Knowledge of Explainability and Interpretability methods and techniques for deep learning.
Familiarity with Intel OpenVino and RealSense technologies

Work Model for this Role

This role is available as fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need.
