Job Description

The Material Control Intern supports Launch Project Leads and Material Planners with projects, reporting, and any additional tasks.

The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Addressing the areas of uncertainty for material control – forecast errors, yield losses, issues in the timing if demand and the timing of supply (random lead times). 
  • Finding alternatives to the current solution which is to carry safety stock. 
  • Development of concepts / IT solutions in support of essential daily tasks.
  • Creating and maintaining visualization tools, material planning dashboard, etc.
  • Optimize the processes for the availability of materials, components, and products for planned production and for customer delivery.
  • Define the lowest possible level of inventory.
  • Understanding the uncertainty of the MRP in the body shop area, finding improvements and increasing planning efficiencies.
  • Support with process mapping of the business and support documentation of standard processes.
  • Using resources to support overall planning activities.

  • Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and technical skills (experience using Power BI, SQL, Data Lake, etc. is a bonus)  
  • Microsoft Excel (experience with VLookup, Macros, etc. preferred)
  • Detail-oriented
  • Organized
  • Effective communication skills
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. 
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term. 
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE (January 3rd until May 6th).
