This placement offers the opportunity to be part of the Material Flow Planning team in Oxford in inside the plant logistics planning team.


The position is inside the Logistics Resources function, and will also involve support for the Lineside planning, Structure planning and Innovation areas, including support on the shop floor for the handover of tasks for facelifts and new derivative production.


This is a great opportunity to work in a busy office including supply chain, container planning as well as Material Flow. A chance to learn first-hand the whole range of the BMW Group logistics processes and contribute to the measurement and improvement of the business.

What awaits you?


• Understanding the Logistics service provider contracts costs and structures. Learning fundamental logistics processes in warehouse management including sequencing and handling of pallets. Interface with operational logistics contract management to share information on current and future costs levels, resulting from product changes and special requests.
• Using this framework to support evaluations of new engineering changes and product changes in line with market place requirements and vehicle legislation.
• Compilation and reporting of logistics key figures regarding the plant status on logistics processes, areas, distances manpower and hours per car. Interface with BMW Group central staffs to understand group benchmarking and reporting structure.
• Co-ordinating and improving the office visual management systems, and chairing team meetings.
• Forecasting and reporting of logistics service provider special requests arising from new logistics processes and warehouse layouts.
• Supporting and steering logistics relevant IT developments when required.
• Support with off-site warehouse planning will be required at periods when parts are moved round to resolve peak space demand on site.

• Studying a Business or Engineering degree, with a focus on Logistics, on target to achieve a 2:1 or above.
• Good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to summarise topics and present clearly.
• Fluent English verbal and written skills are needed, ability in German language would be a strong advantage.
• Flexibility to work on various topics, and support operational implementations when required.
• Some prior knowledge of logistics processes and industry experience would be advantageous; more important is the ability to learn quickly, and to bring original ideas on process improvement opportunities to the team and into the business.
