Job Description

Applied Materials EPG (Equipment Product Group) operations group is responsible for production of equipment and non system orders for 200mm Semi, legacy Semi metrology and inspection, solar inspection and Mask equipment globally in the AGS(Applied Global Services) product portfolio. EPG operations supports refurbishment, new systems, new product and upgrades for the ICAPS business unit focused on growth in  the IOT, communications, automotive, power and sensor product markets. Our EPG team collaborates with customers globally including customers in Taiwan to meet critical equipment needs, solve manufacturing challenges, and make equipment more productive. The growth in ICAPS markets has led to great new opportunities in the 200mm product space and the opportunity for factory expansion in Taiwan to build and ship EPG products for our customers in Taiwan and globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forward Looking / Proactive focus on shortage mitigation above and beyond standard review of 8 to 12-week outlook
  • Must identify critical supply chain pinch points in advance of start of production dates (SOP)
  • Report out potential shortage mitigation opportunities as a result of forward-looking efforts/meetings
  • Execute/Identify MCOS reduction opportunities in conjunction with materials project management Team
  • Develop Buyer Metric which measures buyers weekly task management responsibilities and report out results upon request
  • Ensure RFQ process is strictly followed/execute to with emphasis on cost saving measure (i.e. Quoting for Scaled Pricing & EOQ Purchasing via Ariba)
  • Negotiate with AVL supply base in effort to foster a partnership of all suppliers regardless of EAU or Spend
  • Plan and process raw material orders by interpreting requirements.
  • Review purchase price variances for raw materials purchases.
  • Prepare and distribute raw material purchase requisitions for management approval.
  • Process purchasing requisitions, entering correct information into system, conveying order information to approved suppliers and expediting orders as needed.
  • Process change orders to correspond to changing manufacturing requirements.
  • Administer the Material Review Board (MRB) function by communicating with suppliers for material return for credit or initiate scrap procedures.
  • Maintain all MRP and supplier-related computer data files.
  • Prepare bid packages on new and existing parts when specified, including pricing negotiations.
  • Contract negotiations with suppliers. Including Terms and Conditions with suppliers.
  • Manage SCAR process between Quality Department and vendor.
  • Identify new suppliers as needed. Assist in supplier audits.
  • Supervise the activities of the Senior Buyer and the Purchasing Agents
  • Maintain a professional attitude when contacting outside suppliers to promote the Total Quality Management policy of the Company.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all levels of management and personnel.
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports for department.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience
  • Above 5 years of experience in a buyer, planner or supply chain position
  • Experienced in working in manufacturing environment, team management, cross-functional cooperation  
  • Willing to travel abroad, 20% travel rate to USA, China and Singapore (3 weeks OJT in Austin at the beginning)
  • Flexible on the working hours to cooperate with global suppliers in a different time zone
  • Basic ability to read blueprints / engineering drawings
  • Solid knowledge of SAP is a must
  • Experienced in production control and logistic is a plus
  • Bilingual in both Mandarin and English.
