Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Material Planner to join our team. This position is based at our Delta, BC facility. Position Overview: The primary function of this role is to ensure an acceptable level of material availability to support the master production schedule. Part of this role will analyze, establish, and execute the planning, ordering, scheduling of material, including internally and externally sourced parts. Also, provide material support for the manufacturing and sales of products for site and satellite facilities. Essential Functions: A. Production Plan Lay in Planning Bills adjusting and maintaining to actual. Monitor shop orders scheduling and communicate capacity concerns. Co-ordinate Marketing Forecast into ongoing production plan. B. Inventory Management Analyze and reschedule POs to ensure material availability and control inventory levels. Review depreciated inventory. Use up, Return to supplier, Rework or Scrap. Issue and receive non-conformance reports and determine disposition where responsible. Maintain material availability. Communicate material requirements/forecasts. C. Master Production Schedule Lay in plan forecast. Create and maintain planning bills. Maintain master schedule to support customer orders and planning bills. D. Customer Satisfaction Expedite overdues holding up shipping of customer orders. Communicate to ensure customer service. Work with co-workers to ensure to ensure customer is satisfied. E. Material Availability Create and reschedule orders for material to support stocking policies. Analyze, maintain and approve buy queue/Master Production Schedule. Utilize Kanban processes to ensure material availability and reduce cycle time. Work with Purchasing dept. to communicate with supplies (internal & external) on Material quality, on-time deliveries & overall performance (supplier evaluation). F. Cost Reduction Coordinate and act as liaison for assigned cost reduction team. Update and report results monthly. G. Material Sourcing Source items required for prototypes and prospective new business from existing suppliers. Request quotes for price and delivery. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: College diploma or university degree. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a material planning (or related) role. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship. No relocation provided. Preferred qualifications: 2 years of experience using an MRP system. 1 year of experience of working in design-for-manufacturing or an Engineered-to-Order environment. 1 year of experience with Lean and Six Sigma Tools, Six Sigma Green or Black belt. APICS certification or working towards. Position Criteria: Strong knowledge of purchasing techniques and supplier management. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment as part of a team. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem-solving skills. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (including Excel and Access). Strong proficiency using MRP software, Oracle knowledge is an asset. Strong technical aptitude of electrical distribution and control systems. Effective time management, prioritization, and project management skills.
