A leading international fashion & apparel business is seeking a high-calibre Materials Planning Senior Manager in Taiwan to support a large, complex business unit with a regional remit.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Product Development and Operations team to develop and maintain a raw-material forecast that aligns with the Factory Capacity Plan, and the Go-to Market Calendar
  • Provide periodic updates, volume reconciliations of the raw material forecast to material vendors and factories to maintain visibility on future purchases
  • Determine root causes for material delays/shortages/quality issues and implement corrective actions
  • Provide visibility to excess inventory, and help to facilitate effective utilisation of raw material excess
  • Make sound business decisions and escalate to management where needed
  • Provide analytic support to the Company raw materials team on new colour development, and visibility to impact of colour development on the production time line
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost as well as potential gaps in seasonal material offerings
  • Coordinate and facilitate introductions to new raw material vendors to the Development and Operations team
  • Create and issue sample and bulk raw material commitments that aligns with vendor requirements
  • Facilitate communication with raw material vendors, factories and provide clarification on raw material requirements as needed
  • Identify, communicate and implement corrective actions due to material vendor capacity constraints or delivery delays
  • Drive efficiencies in the production timelines by providing recommendations to shorten lead times or consolidate material deliveries to garment factories
  • Partner with The Company to maintain accurate production WIP tracking on fabric and trims
  • Manage and optimise global inventory, mitigate excess inventory across multiple locations
  • Maintain a material library with physical samples of all inventoried items
  • Work with The Company raw materials team to audit excess inventory as necessary and provide visibility to the organisation on usable inventory
  • Coordinate with GBG Distribution Centres to execute purchasing and delivery of adequate levels of material inventory for warranty repairs
  • Coordinate data-entry and timely updates for the records of GBG-owned raw materials in The Company’s Material Management tool
  • Review Tech Packs, and Bill of Materials with the Product Development team to ensure accuracy of defined material articles and consumption yields
  • Update and maintain ex-mill dates, and fabric in-house dates to ensure on-time delivery of finished goods
  • Establish reporting to track raw material supplier performance against delivery targets
  • Develop a raw material supplier matrix by product category, geographic location, lead time, material type, and quality
  • Provide a post-seasonal review of raw material vendor performance along with recommendations for continuous improvement

Key requirements

  • Requires a BA (or equivalent) in Business, Supply Chain or related field
  • Minimum three to five years planning or procurement experience
  • Understanding of design and development process from beginning to end
  • Basic knowledge of textile properties including dyeing, finishing and fabric performance
  • Strong analytic skills, ability to leverage systems and files to access data effectively
  • Fluent in English and strong communication skills, clear and concise with the end result in mind
  • Effectively ability to manage to seasonal deadlines and work well in a team environment
  • MS Office, JDE and/or SAP preferred
  • Relevant experience in the apparel industry preferred
