Your Business Area

In Global Engineering and Real Estate (GERE) we do a lot of different and exciting things! Part of our offering are scoping, planning and executing major capital projects across all our operation sites. We handle different types of investment projects and strategic real estate issues, always with sustainability in focus. The Building Services Engineer (HVAC) is one of many Subject Matter Experts roles within the Global Engineering Technical Services team who provide a range of services to all parts of the AstraZeneca business. Collaboration is a way of life for us, though the role is based in Sweden you will still be an active piece in our international team. Your expertise may be needed for technical assessments at other facilities, in order to do so you need to be able to travel internationally accordingly.

What you’ll do
As Building Services Engineer (HVAC) you will be responsible for delivering the technical aspects of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning delivery on projects. You will convert our business goals into technical solutions, which requires you to practice leadership with the help of your technical background.

You will lead the technical definition for HVAC within pharmaceutical facility capital projects. You will work collaboratively with end users and other internal stakeholders to agree and define clear requirements for external designers. You will be part of a multi-functional team and will, at times, be required to support ongoing operations with technical support to address operational problems. The role includes responsibility for establishing core HVAC requirements on capital projects. To define strategies and provide technical input and directions during capital project design, from concept through detailed design and equipment selection.

You will also support Project Managers and Project Technical Managers during construction, monitoring the flow of information between vendors, contractors and internal resources. This to ensure delivering of design intent and meeting quality standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Fluent in both English and Swedish

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in mechanical, building services, or related field

  • A minimum of 5 years post graduate working experience design organisation/consultancy working for clients in the pharmaceutical- or similar industries

  • In-depth knowledge of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system design, installation and commissioning

Desirable Requirements

  • Broad understanding and experience of design, installation and commissioning of black utilities (e.g. steam generation and distribution, hot water systems, chilled water systems etc) 

  • Experience in commissioning and qualification of clean-rooms in pharmaceutical industries

  • Experience working on large capital construction projects
