Job Description

Are you looking to join a great team to deliver the next generation of industry leading wireless products? Microsoft’s Surface Team is looking for a talented individual to join our team to drive mechanical design and complex problem solving in leading edge industrial designs/products.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience designing products through fast-paced product development cycles. A strong mix of innovative design capability, technical depth and partnering skills allow you to work cross-functionally to tie mechanical assemblies, electronics, and software into compelling customer experiences.

Responsibilities

A track record of mechanical design work through the full product cycle and working on different examples of parts/assemblies in complex consumer electronics products is strongly desired. Understanding cross-functional tradeoffs within your part/assembly domain should be very familiar to you.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Mechanical engineering, M.S. or PhD in related engineering discipline preferred.
  • 6+ or more years of product development experience, with at least 3 years designing assemblies and complex parts for consumer electronic devices
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical tolerance analysis and Design of Experiment Techniques 
  • Demonstrated Design Experience with challenging form factors
  • Strong ProE/Creo (or equivalent) skills, demonstrated use of Top-Down CAD Design strategy
  • Understanding of many manufacturing processes related to consumer products including injection molding, stamping, die-casting, CNC, MIM, glass machining
  • Understanding of and experience with PCBA mechanical interface
  • Experience with Asia based high volume manufacturing
  • Demonstrated use of FEA as a design input
  • Subject Matter Expert in at least two areas of Consumer Electronics design
  • Experience with JMP or equivalent data analysis software package a plus

 

Domestic and international travel required.
