Job Description
Siemens Large Drives Business Unit in Norwood, Ohio, is looking for an addition to the Mechanical Engineering Group. In this role you will be primarily responsible for specifying special mechanical components and designs, providing technical customer support and data, and providing technical support to the rotor, machine, and test departments. In addition, you will work with supplier quality for incoming parts' conformance/deviations. Requirements: Work on electric motor designs where related to Mechanical engineering including anti-friction bearing calculations, shaft critical speed analysis, and bearing temperature analysis. This design information would be passed on to the Design Group to complete the motor design for specific orders. Work with the manufacturing shop and give rework procedures for parts with non-conformances, etc. While following the rework of individual parts, show leadership by guiding shop personnel on the accurate rework procedures. Gain knowledge on what characteristics are significant to manufacture an Above NEMA electric motor, as well as good machining and part dimensioning practices. Complete cost reduction/product improvement projects that improve our product for cost reduction/marketability/quality. Work with Marketing/Purchasing /etc. when vital to respond to product engineering questions. Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience: BS in Mechanical Engineering is required Knowledgeable in rotating machinery vibration analysis Knowledgeable in bearing design, rotor dynamics and stress analysis Knowledge of machining techniques and working with a machine shop Proven track record in lead projects to completion under demanding deadlines Typically 2-5 years of successful experience in related field Understands RCA, Lean management methods, 8D, PDCA, Six Sigma.
