Mechanical Engineer Truck Chassis Development for Heavy Duty Truck Application

Purpose / Mission
Our R&D Chassis-Team in China is responsible for the development and localization of chassis and powertrain components for the local production of Heavy-Duty Trucks. You will be work in an international work environment and support all relevant activities for the localization of frame, frame attached parts and steering system. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of Global R&D, Procurement, Cost- and Supplier Quality Engineering to support the development, supplier awarding and parts validation with the focus on Fuel Tanks and AdBlue Tanks

Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate the necessary activities between our R&D Chassis-Team in China and the respective stakeholders to achieve a successful and sustaining localization of frame, frame attached parts and steering system
• Specification: derive specifications for Frame-System, Frame Attachments (Rear fender, Battery carrier, Catwalk) Fuel- and AdBlue-Tank, Steering System and Superstructure parts (Fifth Wheel, Mounting plate, Underride protection) from overall project specifications
• Design: initiate and induce agreement between all involved departments on new components or necessary adjustments of existing components. Carry out / coordinate the necessary design- and development-activities considering function, durability, safety, homologation and legal requirements of local applications and Daimler Truck network requirements globally
• Documentation: coordinate and track documentation activities according to project milestones and deadlines
• Awarding: coordinate sourcing activities for above-mentioned parts between all involved stakeholders and according to project milestones
• Validation: create and induce agreement between all involved departments on validation plans according specified boundary conditions and maturity level
Assess testing results, issue root-cause analysis and elaborate counter measures
