We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager within a cross product engineering team to support all Microsoft Devices development. This is a great opportunity to build a shared mechanical engineering team to extend our team already present in Redmond, WA location.
Responsibilities
Job Description & Accountability:
- Recruit and grow a world class talent while building this team in China, closer to our Manufacturing vendors.
- Ability to develop talent, motivate team members and provide clear direction for their career growth as well for the team growth
- Lead Mechanical Engineering team with various specialties in sheet metal design, FPC design, PCB design, Drafting, BOM management, Test Tool design, Fixtures Design etc…
- Identifies improvements in the design of major component assemblies or program areas for a product group, based on customer or partner feedback. Creates the appropriate process changes to deliver these improvements
- Enables his or her team to meet objectives and deliverables by addressing process problems.
- Works with the Product development team located in United States during build support and guide root cause analysis for any component or subassembly by following a structured problem solving.
- Drive collaboration with suppliers while contributing to components / sub-systems readiness during product development cycle.
Qualifications
Candidate Requirements:
Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience working as a mechanical engineering Manager
- 7+ years of Product development experience in Mechanical Engineering field
- Ability to clearly communicate in English as well in Mandarin.
- Ability and Willingness to travel to Manufacturing Facilities and Suppliers. Travel up to 40%.
Desired Skills and qualification:
- Able to Multi-task, be a self-starter, work under pressure and meet deadlines consistently.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things.
- Highly capable in synthesizing complex requirements, resolving competing requirements, resolving conflicts and drive clear direction for the team and for the organization.
- Prior experience working on High Volume Mfg. product development
- 5+ years of experience using Creo or other 3D Modelling tools
- 3+ years of experience on using PDMLink or equivalent Design Data Management tool
- Ability to coach and mentor others as well as take direct action.
- Prior experience working with a product development team located in other countries
- Prior knowledge and/or experience in product manufacturing
