Mechanical Global Sourcing Manager

Job Description

General Purpose:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues and opportunities within business sourcing models bringing a fresh approach to existing practices

  • Support, collaborate, and lead procurement teams for mechancial needs in PC components, PC peripherals, and audio products

  • Drive synergies in mechanical supply chain

  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to ensure we have a high quality, cost effective supply base that is able to also deliver components to meet our production demand

  • Serve as primary contact for internal teams and external partners/suppliers for mechanical component sourcing and procurement.

  • Identify key mechanical components, identify potential suppliers and build consensus cross functionally to qualify those suppliers.

  • Work closely with Product Management, Hardware/ Software Engineering, Industrial Design, Quality Engineering and Operations teams, you will manage and maintain long-term supplier relationships


Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • In depth knowledge of mechanical components and processes – metal stamping, extrusions, castings, forgings, plastic injection molding and tooling

  • Maintain expertise/knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape relative to mechanical commodity

  • Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service and technology

  • Manage robust supplier selection processes using market analysis, concise request for proposals (RFPs), data driven approach and should cost modeling. Analyzes responses, compiles summary report and formulates recommendations for management review. Drives the supplier selection and onboarding process.

  • Help drive quarterly executive business reviews of strategic sourcing plan that defines, among other things, market and business analysis, product roadmaps, supplier capabilities and annual / quarterly strategic business objectives

  • Manage all aspects of new supplier bring-up, qualification, capacity planning, assurance of supply and execution to project timelines/schedules

  • Support supplier initiatives including annual cost reductions, VMI/JIT, lead-time reductions, favorable payment terms, etc.

  • Coordinates supplier reliability evaluations via supplier visits, analysis of cost reports, supplier P&L statements, quality system audits, and other data; compiles comprehensive supplier visit reports.

  • Negotiates with suppliers to obtain most favorable price, schedule, and terms and conditions; Follows up orders to expedite delivery and shipment as required.

  • Identify and lead life cycle cost down projects including opportunity management for large scale upside purchases.

  • Manages the creation of supplier reverse logistics processes for new business initiatives.

  • Manages complex and/or long-term contracts.

  • Frequently interacts with individuals in administrative or executive positions within company and supplier organizations to obtain and provide information; consults on problems requiring judgment and tact; develops and maintains good working relationships with suppliers.

  • Procures materials, expense items, equipment and services within the provisions of applicable Government laws and regulations and Company Policy.

  • Ensures all procurement activities comply with the Company's Code of Ethics & Business Conduct Guidelines, Purchasing Policies & Procedures, and legal & ethical business practices.


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain development, sourcing management, or strong mechanical engineering background in product development

  • Top-notch analytical/negotiation skills

  • Ability to toggle between strategic and detail orientated thinking

  • Tenacious problem solving & issue resolution skills

  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to influence across multiple functional teams

  • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic and rapidly changing environments

  • Driven and motivated by accomplishing extraordinary objectives

  • Hands-on experience in any of the following: mechanical engineering, mechanical development, manufacturing practices/techniques involving CNC Machined parts, sheet metal, enclosures, casings, jigs, tooling, fixtures, injection molding, vacuum forming, plastic parts, ceramics, etc.

  • Experience working with a global focus

  • Ability to work independently and frequent travel to vendor sites, offices, and HQ are necesssary

  • Excellent communication (written & oral), interpersonal and presentation skills, along with strong analytical and project management skills.

  • Prior experience in PC gaming peripherals a plus
