Mechanical Inspector

In this role you will perform inspections with minimal supervision. The inspections this person performs are complex to very complex. You will be responsible for filling out quality records in an error free manner. The equipment this person is capable of using includes automated inspection equipment as well as a CMM while also being capable of developing programs for automated inspection equipment (CMM and or Vision Systems).

You are responsible for

  • Reading and understanding complex blueprints.

  • Performing a variety of visual and dimensional inspection of machined, plastic and sheet metal parts including flat pattern design, fixtures, gages and completed assemblies to determine precise conformance to specifications, tolerances and workmanship standards.

  • Completing inspections and record results including generating comprehensive nonconformance reports allowing the MRB to understand the non-conformances without the need for further clarification

  • Performing all duties while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and quality system requirements.

  • The candidate must be proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments to include (but not limited to):

  • Calipers

  • Micrometers

  • Depth gauges

  • Height gauges

  • Indicators

  • Thread gauges

  • Comparator

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associates degree preferred or equivalent training, education, and/or experience

  • Certified Quality Inspector credential desired

  • Knowledge of cGMP, ISO and QSR requirements with a minimum of 4+ years’ experience in a regulated industry (ex. Medical, aerospace, automotive, etc.)

  • Experience in the medical device industry a plus.

  • IPC-A-610 workmanship standard training certification a plus

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standard certification a plus

  • Must be able to read and interpret Blue Prints and Technical Specifications for mechanical and electrical assemblies.

  • Must be able to inspect parts involving numerous precision tolerance dimensions, coordinated dimensions, irregular surfaces and contours, which must be inspected by precision measuring instruments from surface plate set-ups where no inspection jigs or fixtures are available.

  • Must have knowledge of inspection specifications, processing, hardware and finishing specifications.

  • Train lower level inspectors on quality procedures, inspection equipment and inspection technique

  • Follow and understand verbal and written instructions.

  • Must have oral communication skills, demonstrate teamwork, be adaptable, have the ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Measurement System Analysis and GR&R

  • Must have oral communication skills, demonstrate teamwork, be adaptable, have the ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.

  • Requires fine manipulation and simple grasping to utilize a computer and handheld inspection equipment.

  • Responsible for performing first article inspections and Engineering evaluation reports on items of moderate difficulty.

  • Frequent sitting and standing.

  • May occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
