This is a Packaging Engineering position on one of the best, and most innovative packaging teams in the industry. You will be responsible for the engineering design, analysis, testing, and evaluation of Dell's All-in-One and Server packaging. The work is fast paced, and engaging. You will work with packaging suppliers, ODM's , Dell Industrial Design, and with Dell Packaging Procurement to deliver best-in-class packaging for e-commerce direct ship and retail packaging that delights customers, provides product protection, best cost, and helps leave the planet in better shape with leading sustainability practices. While the role works in a highly cross-functional environment, there is a high level of individual ownership as the position is responsible for packaging from concept through to sustaining. Must have an ability to identify cost reduction opportunities through technology innovation, Design-to-Leverage, Design Thinking and other techniques. Communicating your ideas, status of projects, and leading design sessions is also a key part of the job.
- Designs, analyzes, documents and functionally validates packaging components and assemblies
- Directs, conducts and participates in engineering tests to validate the robustness and proper performance of new packaging
- Interfaces w/suppliers, ODM's, Packaging Procurement, New Product Introduction, Global Operations Engineering, Experience Design Group, and other development groups to ensure the successful development and launch of new packaging
- Utilizes best-in-class tools to develop innovative solutions to highly complex problems
- Responsible for testing, analysis and debug on assigned packaging programs
- Contributes to the successful management and development of packaging and first samples delivery
- Ensures that comprehensive qualification and subsequent packaging revisions are completed
- Ensures deliverables are met per program schedules
- BS in Packaging Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with at least six years of packaging engineering experience. Or, MS in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering with five years of packaging engineering experience.
- Fluent in Chinese to read, write, speak
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
- Knowledgeable and experienced with AutoCAD or equivalent
- Knowledgeable on how to structure BOMs
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Experienced in molded fiber packaging and packaging testing
- Some experience in Finite Element Analysis a plus.
