This position joins a Mechanical R&D team which promotes an open and collaborative team culture responsible for the development of innovative virtual integration methods. The team develops and deploys cutting edge simulation and testing tools and capabilities in the form of Simcenter 3D-based Structural FEA, homegrown motion control models, and other System Dynamics and multi-physics models to enable Design Engineers exploit Virtual Design and Integration attributes. The team also This position reports directly to Manager of Mechatronics & Structures Simulation team. This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Mechatronics & Structural Dynamics Intern, you will be responsible for one or more of the following: • Develop robust sensing and control algorithms for motion control and Automation systems. • Investigate and develop robust sensor-less feedback control for performance improvement of stepper-drive motion control systems. • Communicating technical issues and document work in the form of technical reports This position may suit you best if you are familiar with what is below, and would like to do develop your career with Healthineers • Good understanding of Control systems with basic understanding of structural dynamics and motion control; • Proficiency with Matlab / Simlink • Basic mathematical modeling and statistical/signal/data analysis Required skills to have for the success of this role • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program studying Mechanical Engineering, Electric Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or similar. • Must have a GPA of 3.2 or better • Ability to conduct research and investigations independently • Must be comfortable working a fully virtual environment if necessary, as well as working on site and following company-mandated COVID-19 protocol. • Must be willing to work full time (up to 40 hours/week) during the summer. • F1 visa students will be considered. Required/Preferred knowledge/skills, education, and experience • Good understanding of control system design, sensor fusion methods, and state estimation is required • Basic understanding of Data analysis, Signal processing Concepts is desirable • Knowledge of Advanced Control methods including Disturbance Observer-based methods, and Adaptive Robust Control is preferred • Intermediate-to-high level experience with Matlab/Simulink required • Previous engineering internship and/or co-op experience would be desirable • Local to the Tarrytown, NY site preferable (within 50 miles) Start Date: Summer 2022, 3-month duration (minimum) Siemens Healthineers has recently announced the next steps in our continued commitment to prioritize colleague health, comply with customer/business partner requirements, and help preserve our business continuity.
