What you’ll do?

Here you will work with a  team of enterprising leaders, our role is to connect and advise: aligning commercial and scientific goals and spotting opportunities to shape what’s next for AstraZeneca.

An internal and external facing expert that provides medical and clinical expertise in Oncology and builds AstraZeneca scientific leadership in this area. You will focus on building a deep scientific understanding of AstraZeneca compounds through Key External Expert (KEE) engagement. You will provide input into Brand Strategy and you will be responsible for implementation of medical activities aligned with overall Brand Strategy. Further internal accountabilities include the delivery of medical education, clinical support to medical professionals, training sales teams and internal medical approval processes.

Some areas of focus for this role will include:

  • In field engagement of HCPs and key external stakeholders.
  • Development and implementation of KEE engagement plan in collaboration with TA lead.
  • Discuss potential involvement of HCP’s in Externally Sponsored Research (ESR’s) and RWE studies.
  • Provide AstraZeneca internal stakeholders with an understanding of the local medical community, clinical practice, trends and real or perceived gaps in current scientific knowledge and medical treatment.
  • Provide medical input for the development of company’s brand plans.  
  • Develop and implement the local medical plan to address unmet medical needs in priority disease areas and ensure alignment with the brand plan.
  • Develop and implement pre-launch medical plan/activities for new products at least 2 years prior to the planned launch to address key clinical and scientific challenges.
  • Provide medical leadership on faculty and content development for medical programmes including national congresses, advisory boards, scientific exchange meetings, CMEs to meet identified needs.  
  • Provide medical input to the creation, development and agreement of promotional material and ensure all material is in line with internal SOPs and MCA.  
  • Support Clinical team to select appropriate investigators and sites optimizing quality and delivery.
  • Ensures compliance with AstraZeneca code of conduct, corporate governance, audit requirements, guidelines, codes, policies and procedures.
  • Active participation in AstraZeneca training, projects, and meetings depending on company needs.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?

  • MBCHB, PhD or MSc
  • Experience of medical affairs function within Pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive experience in relationship and stakeholder management
  • Project management experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interact and manage a range of stakeholders both internally and externally

Desirable for the role

  • PhD in Molecular Oncology/relevant scientific discipline
  • Medical research experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory developments, and Medical Research Experience
