Reporting to the Director, Scientific - Respiratory & Immunology, this new Medical Advisor role will have primary responsibility as the medical and scientific lead for our COVID-19 vaccine asset, as well as the monoclonal antibodies in development in infectious diseases and FluMist Quadrivalent. This role will collaborate closely with Global and work with our Medical Evidence Team to develop a critical evidence generation strategy to support articulation of product clinical and economic value.
The main responsibilities are:
- Lead the Medical input to business strategic and operational planning for defined therapy area and/or defined brands, including development of Brand Medical plans
- Embed clinical insight, customer focus and clinical governance into commercial / public health-related objectives
- Deliver TA/Brand objectives as outlined in the Respiratory & Immunology Medical Plans and strategic direction
- Build and deliver pre-launch and peri-launch medical plans and activities
- Act to ensure GCP requirements are followed and in line with the local Quality Management System (QMS) SOP and all other AZ policies and Standards
- Create a matrix team environment that supports innovation, challenges the status quo and provides clear role accountability within the cross-functional Respiratory & Immunology Therapy Area Team
- Ensure the patient is central to all activities
- Develop and maintain positive scientific relationships with key customers to build customer insight and develop strategic partnerships
- Develop and apply new insights from Medical and customer into Medical, Brand and Account Plans
- Provide informed medical input into key Government Affairs and Market Access activities
- Co-ordinate the development and implementation of Advisory Boards
- Co-ordinate the medical response to requests for scientific exchange of information from external customers and at key internal meetings
- Responsible for collecting and reporting Adverse Events in accordance with AstraZeneca policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Registered Physician (MD) or Pharmacist (PharmD) or completed PhD
- Track record of leadership across the medico-marketing interface
- Prior experience in a Medical Affairs role in vaccines/ infectious diseases or immunology – a minimum of 2 years for exceptional candidates is expected
- Technical expertise in infectious diseases / vaccines/ immunology
- Extensive experience of the pharmaceutical industry
- Extensive patient and customer insight through experience in a health care setting
