Accountabilities
- The Field Medical Capability Lead (FMCL) is the single point of accountability for the filed capability. The FMCL drives strategy and execution of the field capability, including process alignment, standardization, identifying and implementing solutions locally where needed in alignment with local strategies.
Role & Responsibility
- Lead the Field Medical Capability
- Execute capability strategies that maximize the value proposition of Amgen's therapies including annual strategic planning and goal setting, process framework, alignment, and compliance, as well as and systems solutions
- In alignment with global/regional capability, establish, ensure or execute consistent and efficient procedures, systems and infrastructure are in place to support capability.
- Supports local MSL organization with tools and training for ensuring continuous performance improvement and field-based activities
- Partner with JAPAC Learning and Performance teams in local geography to help execution of training programs to support the team
- Drive and support annual objectives and metrics (quantitative and qualitative) for performance as appropriate to capability
- Support staff onboarding and ongoing training
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Doctorate degree & 2 years of global medical affairs experience OR
- Master’s degree & 6 years of medical affairs OR
- Bachelor’s degree & 8 years of medical affairs
Preferred Requirements
- MD, PhD, PharmD, Master’s Degree
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in clinical research, patient care, clinical development, medical/scientific affairs and/or basic research (other doctorate degrees may be considered)
- Prior experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development within the biopharmaceutical industry, and/or clinical or research experience in the areas of hematology, oncology, cardiovascular, inflammation, neuroscience, nephrology or bone
- Prior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience and/or experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development within the biopharmaceutical industry
- Prior leadership experience leading MSL teams, leading/managing project teams, programs or directing the allocation of resources
- Understanding of the drug development and commercialization process
- Understanding of clinical trial processes
- Business process and systems management
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry guidelines and legal/health system environment
- Ability to lead multiple disciplines and initiatives in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities and significant time pressures to shape functional strategy
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), time management, project planning, aptitude in presenting in front of stakeholders and ability for self-direction
- The ability to work in teams and interface in a dynamic environment across corporate functions.
