(temporary 12 months’ position)

We are now hiring for the Medical Information and Patient Safety Specialist temporary role in Espoo, Finland. This temporary role is a 12 months’ maternity leave cover with the target start date in the beginning of April 2021.

The role


Medical Information and Patient Safety Specialists are responsible for managing medical information queries and pharmacovigilance tasks within our Nordic organization. This includes managing enquiries from physicians, pharmacists and patients, and reporting any Adverse Events. The tasks must be performed according to applicable regulations and AstraZeneca Standard Operating Procedures. The split between medical information and pharmacovigilance tasks is decided by the current company need.

The temporary role will assist in covering the tasks in Finland but also partly covers the Scandinavian countries with regards to Medical Information and Patient Safety.

Other tasks might be relevant, e.g. supporting the company on medical information projects related to specific products or other tasks as per need.

Typical accountabilities for role

  • Responds to queries on pharmaceutical products from internal and external partners. Tracks queries and responses through information management systems.

  • Handles adverse events/SAEs from the Nordic markets

  • Involved in local pharmacovigilance tasks such as Risk Management Plans and reviewing of Market Research activities

  • Supports Responsible Pharmacist with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) related activities, when needed  

  • Assists in developing procedures and assist with QC work

  • Follows local trends and legislations

  • Active contribution to continuous improvement within the function

  • Assures tasks are of accurate quality and in accordance with written procedures and current legal requirements and internal standards

Minimum experience / requirements

We are looking for an individual holding a Master´s degree in pharmacy or equivalent with good knowledge in pharmacology.

We expect you to have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex medical language. To do so, you need to be proficient in the Finnish language and have excellent knowledge in English. A good understanding of the other Scandinavian languages is preferable.

As a person, you work structured, organized and have attention to details.

Preferred experience/requirements

  • Experience from similar work within the pharmaceutical industry, research, pharmacies or authorities

  • Experience with Quality Control / Quality Assurance work

  • Experience working on cross-functional teams

  • Ability to collaborate externally and internally
