We have a vacancy for the Medical Lead position in Oncology, reporting to Medical Director.
AstraZeneca’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing six new cancer medicines to patients by 2020. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers These cancer types are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.
Key Accountabilities
The Medical Lead is an internal and external facing medical role that provides medical and clinical expertise in priority therapeutic/disease areas and builds AZ scientific leadership.
- Engages Opinion Leaders in ESRs, scientific exchange meetings and advisory board meetings.
- Generates medical evidence to support the brand strategies in priority TAs to meet unmet medical needs
- Leads the implementation of Medical Plan/ activities in alignment with Brand strategy. Ensures that the Medical Activities meet the needs of patients and customers.
- Participates and contributes with medical and clinical expertise, in designing the Life Cycle Management and Brand Strategy.
- Provides medical expertise to achieve rapid and high-quality market access of AZ products including new registration, new product evaluation and life cycle.
- Defines and delivers training on Medical background of the product or various functions in an organization.
- Takes responsibility as Nominated Signatory medical reviewer for activities and promotional materials. Takes responsibility for mentorship of MSL/s in the country.
Leads a team of MSLs and Medical Managers.
The successful candidate profile should have:
- Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD would be considered an asset)
- Medical Affairs experience (3+ years). At minimum, 4+ years total of pharmaceutical or relevant medical/clinical experience.
- Proven ability to generate, analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data
- Track record of successfully developing and executing Medical Plans both in terms of evidence generation, scientific communications, and external expert engagements
- Strong project management skills and ability to work effectively with cross functional teams
- People Management Experience as a Line or Project Manager would be considered an asset
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in Greek and English
