Overview :

Medical Liaison Manager is a hybrid office-based and field-based customer facing role to lead a MSL team engage in scientific exchange with KMEs about Biogen inline and pipeline products/diseases. He/she need to maintain a therapeutic leadership position and drive business needs aligned with local and global strategies as well as execute targeted area medical strategy and bring back valuable insights. He/ She also needs to develop team capability within company resources to achieve team objective.

This position would suit an experienced, strategic thinking and strong medical background candidate with rich experience on people management and coach, coupled with a strong communication and interpersonal skill.

Accountabilities: 

1.      Key Medical Experts (KMEs) engagement

Lead the MSL team to:

  • Identify KMEs in specified therapeutic area and work in collaboration with respective commercial counterparts in engaging KMEs from a medical perspective
  • Develop, maintain and implement KMEs engagement plans to build and maintain strong scientific relationships such that Biogen is recognized as an industry partner of choice
  •  Plan KMEs visits and utilize the CRM database to record interactions
  • Provide current, accurate and balanced scientific education to KMEs and facilitate data discussions in relevant therapeutic areas
  • Provide scientific presentations to individual physicians, groups of physicians and/or academic societies, e.g. scientific seminars, round table, journal clubs
  • Reactively explore & facilitate clinician driven ideas for Investigator Initiated Trials (llTs)
  • Act as a liaison between investigators and Biogen ensuring regular communication regarding the progress of IIT proposals

2.      Therapy area strategy support and internal collaboration

Lead the MSL team to:

  • Work with relevant commercial counterparts to address specific regional needs from a medical perspective in alignment with both medical and commercial brand plans
  • Participate in respective integrated brand team meetings to provide in-field medical updates, trends, insights and competitor intelligence
  • Contribute to in-field medical training of Sales team
  • Support Medical Manager in medical strategy development
  • Collaborate with related team to help clinical trial execution e.g. site identification, site Initiation visits
  • Collaborate with Medical Manager to drive approval and set-up of appropriate llTs
  • Collaboration with market access and regulatory affairs to provide appropriate medical support

3.      Team Management and Compliance

  • Team Budget Planning and Resource Management
  • Hires, manages, coaches and develops a group of MSLs assigned to his/her therapeutic areas to ensure the highest quality scientific exchange in alignment with the Medical Affairs plan.
  • Performs observational field visits with each MSL in his/her therapeutic areas as part of ongoing assessment of scientific and soft skill acumen.
  • Organizes regular team meetings for relevant trainings, sharing of best practices, reinforcing on compliance matters and discuss therapeutic area strategies.
  • Develop his/her MSLs’ functional and scientific skills
  • Establishes the annual performance objectives for his/her MSLs
  • Conducts mid-year and year-end reviews of MSL performance
  • Ensure that all MSLs perform their duties in alignment with company SOPs/Guidelines and local laws and regulations

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or above, Medical or scientific qualification
  • Overseas education or research experiences preferred
  • Working experience in Healthcare (Hospital, Industry) at least 5 years
  • 2+ year experience of people management in an international pharma
  • Resilience and self-motivation
  • Willingness to travel and work in the field for half time (50%)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer orientation, science based
