What you’ll do

Joining our Medical Affairs team as an experienced Medical Manager, you will be involved with building, creating, and enhancing patient lives. This role engages in exchange with our medical and scientific community, consistent with AstraZeneca medical objectives. You will deliver medical strategy and tactical plans for AZ’s lung cancer portfolio, working closely with the MSLs to develop, support and execute field medical strategic plans. Your expertise in collaborating with top tier Key External Experts, scientific & medical peak bodies, and non-government organisations as well as your ability to develop close working relationships with local, regional and global colleagues will be critical to your success in this role.

As an experienced Medical Manager within the oncology space, you will report to the Senior Medical Manager and be involved with responsibilities such as:

  • Delivery of medical strategy and tactical plans for AZ’s Oncology portfolio, specifically focused on Lung Cancer

  • Provide robust input into the internal and external lung cancer/oncology strategy to help shape the future direction of the portfolio

  • Develop and maintain a robust Key External Expert/external bodies management plan

  • Collaboration with top tier Key External Experts, scientific & medical peak bodies, and non-government organisations to help shape the practice of medicine

  • Manage externally sponsored trials and internally led phase 4 or RWE clinical studies

  • Providing scientific expertise for regulatory and market access submissions

  • Acting as a medical expert to ensure compliance with code of conduct across the business

  • Be a valued partner and scientific expert to the marketing and sales teams to support commercial brand strategy

  • Work closely with the field medical teams to contribute and support field medical strategic plans

  • Provide strong project management of medically-led initiatives

  • Partner with and develop close collaboration with regional and global colleagues

  • Partnering with the clinical operations team to facilitate feasibility, support recruitment and manage site and investigator related queries

  • Providing internal training for medical and commercial field teams

Essential for the role

  • Experience working within the oncology therapeutic area and medical affairs in a similar role in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Proven leadership capabilities; interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Medical Governance and MA Code of Conduct experience

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, internally and externally

  • Strategic thinking, creative problem solving and project management skills

Desirable for the role

  • Relevant Medical Advisor/Manager experience

  • Qualifications in a relevant scientific area and/or prior clinical experience e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD

  • Experience in product launch or strategy development and execution

  • Proven leadership capabilities; interpersonal and influencing skills
