MaineGeneral Health, a leading health care organization in Maine, is offering an exciting full-time opportunity for an experienced Medical Transcriptionist to join our team of dedicated professionals. This is a Full-time, Evening opportunity. On-site training is required in Waterville, Maine.

Responsibilities


  • Transcribes dictated reports from healthcare providers for inclusion in medical records.
  • Transcribes dictated reports in appropriate format and according to established standards for style, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Flags, investigates, and resolves issues with recordings and transcribed reports.
  • Translates medical jargon and abbreviations into proper form. Identifies and uses appropriate medical and transcription reference resources as needed.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, distributes, and tracks/logs assignments.

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Registered as a Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) or certified as a Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of medical transcription experience preferably in an acute care environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Dolbey Fusion preferred.
  • Experience as a virtual scribe a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and pharmacology
  • Excellent grammar and spelling
  • The ability to transition between speech recognition/editing and straight typing of dictation
  • The ability and discipline to work independently with minimal supervision in an At-Home Environment

At-Home Work Environment Requirements:


  • At-Home Office must be a designated/approved work area and kept separate from normal household functions/traffic.
  • Employee must maintain a non-distracting work environment to ensure accuracy of transcribed reports.
  • A high speed internet connection is required.
  • A telephone is required.
  • MGMC will supply a dedicated work computer, monitor, keyboard and foot pedal.
  • Proper office environment equipment (desk, appropriate chair, shelves, etc.) are provided at the in home employee's expense. This includes any materials recommended by MGMC for appropriate ergonomic setup.
