Merchandiser (M) at Nordisk Asia (NA), Shanghai. Reports to the General Manager.

Product range:

Outdoor products and gear for hard lines and soft lines. This includes, but is not limited to: tents, sleeping bags, mattresses, backpacks, foldable furniture, outdoor garments.

General Job Description:

The M ensures that merchandise requests from our European headquarter are handled as per specifications. This includes proto, sampling, salesman samples and bulk deliveries. The M will carry out factory visits and perform quality assurance and quality control as well as supervise and direct an individual or a team of QC/QA people partially in the Shanghai office and partially in locations throughout China. The M must perform a hands on approach to supervising the team, and planning/foresee seasonal activity and an on location problem solving approach.

The M will furthermore be expected to assist the product development and buying team in Europe with ideas from the supply chain to further develop the Nordisk brands with product ideas or raw material ideas. The M must also ensure that procurement procedures are carried out as per company guidelines and procedures. In depth selection and negotiations with partners and supply chain is required to optimize terms and conditions. Relevant China travel activity must be expected.

Main responsibilities:

• Order Follow up
• Sourcing and partner / factory selection.
• QA/QC processes.
• In close co-operation with the Nordisk Asia management (General Manager), assist and provide support to the objectives of the office.
• Must be actively involved in sourcing and delivery and condition negotiations with suppliers.
• Supervise and manage a QA/QC person. Plan and execute daily tasks.
• Budget planning and cost control responsibility to ensure own and team plans are followed.
• Close and daily contact with HQ team in Europe to ensure that daily issues are resolved.
• Ensure that all specs are followed in each step of the supply chain.
• Carry out all HQ requests on proto, samples, bulk.
• Ensure that supply chain understands the required standards and test these and apply pre-production / in line and final inspections. Ensure that the record of these are in order.
• Ensure that all deliveries are done in a timely manner and that logistics are in order.
• Close co-operation with suppliers to maintain and develop them and their products
• Assist HQ in new ideas and feed HQ with products and ideas from the market / suppliers.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• College degree or above
• At least 3 years related work experience
• Textile education or/and background / experience is a must.
• Experience with down and feather material as insulation component is an advantage.
• Your personality reflects honesty, integrity, reliability, creativity and discipline. You are motivated by a dynamic environment, you like to be organised, take initiative and work hard. You can apply diplomacy when required.
• Good communications skills and a positive attitude.
• Good and well trained computer skills at user level with MS office programs.
• High degree of discipline and capable of working individually and in a team.
• Good (well above medium) verbal and written English+Mandarin skills.
• German language skills an advantage, but not a requirement.
• Production / product knowledge which are related to outdoor products or textile related.
• Experience from product(-ion) management that includes various components.
