Job Description

The Metrology Automation Analyst:

  • Provides engineering / measurement expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Analyzes geometric problems and provides root cause analysis.
  • Investigates further opportunities to automate metrology applications as well as use innovative ways to utilize data sets to solve geometric problems.
  • Manages an element of metrology equipment including: the process by which data is collected, the calibration of the equipment, and the processing of the data to be reported.
  • Researches new developments in the field of metrology that could further support the automation of the metrology process.
  • Develops plans to utilize new hardware tools to improve efficiency, predictive analytics, and accuracy of metrology methods.
  • Leads data mining analytics projects and develops use strategies for future model measurements.
  • Coordinates with metrology team to collaboratively develop metrology solutions for future models and business needs.
  • Analyzes data provided to customers, provides root cause analysis of issues, and gives guidance in conducting geometric analysis.
  • Develops measurement programs with defined outcomes.
  • Leads planning, maintenance, and operation of metrology equipment.
  • Promotes the principles and values of Plant Spartanburg in daily activities and future planning.
  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • BS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of metrology data collection experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with CAD models of parts.
  • 1+ years of experience in developing automation routines and scripts in Python or similar languages(preferred).
  • Metrology or GD&T professional certificate (preferred).
  • 3+ years of Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • 1+ years of strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
  • 1+ years of problem-solving skills.
  • 1+ years knowledge of motor control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of metrology and dimensional management tools.
  • Basic knowledge of Body or Assembly Shop processes (preferred.
  • Basic German language skills (preferred).
