We are looking for an experienced Engineer to join our advanced nanofabrication and prototyping team. Working on Microsoft HoloLens you will be part of an expert organization which consists of professionals from the fields of micro- and nanofabrication, optics, and metrology.

In this role you will drive the development of metrology methods capable of characterizing micro- and nanofabricated structures such as waveguides, lasers, MEMS. You will lead the development of metrology solutions starting from the concept phase all the way up to the implementation of scalable production solutions. Example methods are based but not limited to optical and electron microscopy, interferometry, or scatterometry. Your background and knowledge in micro- and nanofabrication processes as well as a profound understanding of several different characterization techniques will help you to quick-start into your new role while your desire for continuous improvement and learning will enable you to adopt new technologies and be successful long-term. Utilizing the power of data and statistical methods you will gather the insights necessary to steer the development activities across different teams working on design, materials, and process development.

Responsibilities

  • In discussion with your colleagues you will identify suitable metrology concepts targeted to improve the understanding of micro- and nanofabricated structures and their processes
  • Based on the findings you will lead the development and implementation of suitable metrology solutions using internal and external resources
  • You ensure the integrity of your metrology solutions and the data gathered with it while continuously improve capability, throughput, and robustness of existing solutions
  • Using data analysis and statistical methods you will compile the gathered data into actionable insights
  • Building-up on the obtained insights you will actively contribute to and influence the development of micro- and nanofabrication processes
  • You will present results clearly and communicate conclusions concisely to experts in different technology areas and at different hierarchy levels
  • You will be the lead on your area – manage required resources, match projects with given timelines, listen carefully to your colleagues to understand their needs, guide their work with the results you obtain - inspire and shine

Qualifications

  • Seasoned engineer with solid hands-on experience in micro- and nanofabrication processes and characterization of manufactured structures; additional experience with MEMS, test automation, or photonic components is a plus
  • In-depth understanding of different characterization techniques such as optical and electron microscopy, interferometry, or scatterometry and their applications and limits
  • Demonstrated ability to develop characterization concepts and translate them into effective solutions for the problem and requirements at hand
  • Skilled in utilizing relevant software tools and programming languages for concept development, task automation, data analysis, and process control
  • Persuasive presentation and communication skills
  • Track record of managing projects and suppliers; experience in leading teams is a plus
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Physics, Micro/Nanofabrication, Metrology, or related fields
