Job Description
Eaton’s Vehicle Group is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Projects Engineer in the new Aguascalientes, Mexico location. Primary Function: The Lead Manufacturing Projects Engineer, working at Eaton’s new manufacturing plant in Aguascalientes, is responsible for manufacturing project implementation including new equipment start-up, systems integration, and safety/quality/productivity improvement projects. Hands on engineering and project leadership is necessary to execute new projects, as an example new line installation and traceability system implementation (across all lines). The person will be interfacing with internal plant personnel (engineers, technicians, quality, and production personnel), external plant personal (global mfg experts, SCM, and IT systems experts), and external suppliers to successfully complete projects. Program/project methods (Eaton PROLaunch) will be utilized to ensure successful project completion. The person is also expected to come up with innovative ways to improve productivity, quality, and cost for our mfg operations. Essential Functions: Utilize strong project management skills to execute assigned projects and lead projects teams where necessary. Organize and lead team meetings for effective task completion per the implementation work plan and budgets. Develop appropriate work plans (PROLaunch and/or Change Management) to ensure objectives are met and the plant is capable to support all project requirements. Define & communicate project scopes and deliverables. Aligning new equipment &/or product launches with all plant functions and drive the execution to meet customer, cost, quality, and timing requirements. Define & lead plant projects which support key operational factors and/or improvement objectives. Organize and lead team meetings for project completion per the implementation plans and budgets. Oversee capital and expense spending for their respective projects. Ensure that all spending is in line both from a cost and timing perspective. Assure environmental, health and safety requirements are satisfied for all projects/initiatives. Leads cross functional Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) teams. Helps with the development of gaging and control plans for manufactured products. Investigate, analyze, and recommend new and/or alternate equipment and manufacturing methods. Able to develop optimal manufacturing processes and provide cost estimates for business cases. Procure equipment and tooling per project plan and standards. Manage suppliers to ensure on time execution of projects. Mentor and train new engineers & other personnel #LI-MG1 Qualifications Basic qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Five+ years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering position Proficient in Program and Project Management methodologies, processes and tools Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly processes, equipment technology, equipment capability, basic machine tool concepts, and product quality requirements for error free final product Very good decision making and communication skills Great team facilitation skills and ability to work with internal resources, internal customers, external suppliers, and external customers Preferred: Master’s Degree – MBA, Engineering, Management, etc. Controls engineering experience IT system implementation / integration experience Experience with lean, six sigma, and/or continuous improvement High level of creativity in creating unique solutions Manufacturing Process Knowledge of: Forging, Machining, Grinding, Heat Treat Plating, Assembly, Welding, Inspection equipment Additional Information: Travel may be required (10%) What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
