The Advanced Architecture Development Group (AADG) at Intel is building a future-generation CPU core that will deliver leadership core performance. The AADG group invites talented microcode developers and feature architects to join a strong technically skilled, exceptionally innovative engineering team to implement and productize multiple generations of high-performance CPU core microarchitecture.
This role will be responsible for navigating the myriad technical challenges of developing aggressively high-performance, high-quality microcode which does extremely long and complex series of operations.
In this role, you will:
Develop advanced CPU ISA features and differentiating technologies
Define microcode-hardware interfaces and protocols including micro-operations, and hardware microarchitecture
Design microcode algorithms
Implement microcode using micro-ops and verify its functionality and performance on simulators
Debug silicon and supports CPU production
Develop new tools/flows/methodologies to improve productivity for microcode to achieve aggressive product goals
Qualifications
MS or PhD in CS, EECS, ECE, or related computing discipline with minimum 5+ years' experience in
modern x86 instruction set architecture
Bare-metal or low-level programming using machine level or assembly languages
Assembly-level code optimization for performance and portability
High-performance, super-scalar out-of-order CPU core microarchitecture and design
Client and server CPU SoC microarchitecture
Working efficiently on interdependent aspects of projects (arch, uarch, design, SW, validation)
Preferred Qualifications:
Industrial x86 microcode development
Computer system OS kernel, BIOS, firmware, or compiler development for x86 CPU
Code optimization on multi-core / multi-package CPU
Debug skills to track issues in applications, OSes, and FW down to CPU core and RTL area
Intel Architecture, Graphics, and Software (IAGS) brings Intel's technical strategy to life. We have embraced the new reality of competing at a product and solution level—not just a transistor one. We take pride in reshaping the status quo and thinking exponentially to achieve what's never been done before. We've also built a culture of continuous learning and persistent leadership that provides opportunities to practice until perfection and filter ambitious ideas into execution.
