ADI’s Aerospace and Defense business unit has an open position for a Microwave IC Design Engineering intern. In this position, you will learn how to design state-of-the-art microwave circuit blocks for electronically steered antenna arrays.  You will also gain exposure to how microwave integrated circuits are created and verified prior to production. The design team is in Colorado Springs, CO and is staffed by a group of skilled microwave design engineers who will mentor you.

 

The successful candidate will have completed an undergraduate level course in analog IC design and electromagnetic fields & waves, including transmission line theory. Some experience with Cadence design software and/or Keysight ADS is highly desirable, but not required. Our products are focused on military and satellite applications, therefore US citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.

 

Specific Responsibilities / Duties 

 

  • Research circuit topologies (i.e. IEEE journals).
  • Create cell-level circuit schematics in Cadence and perform circuit simulations.
  • Create cell-level IC layout using Cadence Virtuoso.
  • Perform layout parasitic extraction and electromagnetic extraction on the cell-level IC layout.
  • Run circuit simulations using Cadence Spectre RF.
  • Work with IC layout engineers to incorporate your final cell layout into the larger chip layout.

 

Previous Experience/Skills Needed & Education Requirements

 

  • Completed junior level undergraduate EE program.
  • Completed analog IC design course (including transistors).
  • Completed undergraduate level EM fields and waves course.
  • Familiarity with Cadence IC design software desirable.
