Reporting to the Director of Education/Compulsory Curriculum department, the Secondary English Academic Leader role will focus on the following key areas:

Create a G1–8 English curriculum for our bilingual schools:
Create a set of English standards that ensure the success of our students when they progress onto the International Curriculum Pathway in G9
Develop customized Learning Pathways for our ELA students to propel their integration into the mainstream
Create supporting resources such as Schemes of Work and teachers’ resource packages, etc.
Work with external advisors (Chinese National Curriculum experts) on curriculum research, comparison and adaption
Foster continuous professional dialogue around the feasibility and relevance of the curriculum with school academic staff
Encourage a ‘use, review, reflect and revise’ cycle in the upgrading of the curriculum.
2. Research, select, gather, create and integrate relevant resources and provide training for schools as needed for the Dipont English curriculum.
3. Monitor and assess the use of the resource bank as well as resource sharing across schools. 4. Gather, interpret and analyze data from annual summative assessments across different schools to perform quality assurance and inform future planning and action.
5. Contribute to the design and delivery of relevant continuous professional development, establishing regular collaboration among academic staff across the different schools.
6. Input as required to responses to consultancy initiatives that may arise in our schools.
7. Support and provide guidance in English subject-related competitions, extracurricular activities and any other school-based initiatives.
8. Play an integral part in encouraging a supportive, friendly, collaborative and reflective culture within the smaller team and wider schools.
