I. Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching, Learning, and Classroom Management:
−Design and deliver engaging, challenging, and inquiry-based English units aligned with the IB MYP framework.
−Create a student-centered classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and a love for literature and language.
−Implement differentiated teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with varying language backgrounds.
−Maintain a respectful, safe, and positive classroom culture that promotes effective learning.
2. Collaboration and Professional Development:
−Actively participate in departmental meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and curriculum reviews.
−Work closely with local Chinese English teachers and other expatriate staff to share best practices and develop teaching resources.
−Engage in ongoing professional development and reflect consistently on teaching practice to improve student outcomes.
3. Curriculum Development and Assessment:
−Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the MYP English curriculum.
−Design and implement a variety of formative and summative assessment tasks in line with MYP assessment principles.
−Develop unit planners, course outlines, and teaching materials.
−Take responsibility for setting, marking, and providing timely, constructive feedback on student work and assessments.
4. Home-School Communication and Student Support:
−Maintain regular, clear, and effective communication with students, parents, and school counselors.
−Provide clear feedback on student progress through parent-teacher conferences, written reports, and the school's online platforms.
−Provide pastoral care and academic support, supporting the holistic development of each student.
Job Requirements
1. Education and Certification:
−Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, English Literature, Education, or a closely related field.
−A recognized TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certification.
−A valid teaching credential from the candidate's home country (e.g., PGCE, QTS, State License) is highly preferred.
2. Teaching Experience:
−A minimum of 3-5 years of successful English teaching experience.
−Experience teaching at the middle school/secondary level (ages 11-16) is preferred.
−Prior experience teaching within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and a strong understanding of its curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment model will be a significant advantage.
−Experience in an international school setting is preferred.
3. Personal Attributes:
−Outgoing, enthusiastic, and patient with a genuine passion for teaching adolescents.
−Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, diverse team.

4. Professional Skills:
−Native English speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
−High proficiency in standard educational and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
