The Aviation and Military Headset Group within Bose is seeking a Military Sales Technical Manager to join our growing business. Bose Military Communication Headsets are used for critical communication in military environments. For 25 years, our noise cancelling headsets have been utilized by soldiers and militaries across the globe. 

You will play a key role in explaining the features and benefits of Bose military headset products to potential customers. Duties of this position will be customer facing, and an ideal candidate must be personable, capable of understanding customer needs, and presenting in both formal and informal forums. They must interest the customers and key customer influencers in acquiring Bose products and help negotiate a price and close the sale. This position will team with business development persons who concentrate on marketing and selling the product. The Military Sales Technical Manager will be the leader for technical aspects of opportunity qualification and development. The focus will be on large complex military and prime contractors but will also bridge the business development staff to Bose engineers to capture and document technical specifications that will contribute toward developing and capturing sales opportunities.

In addition to giving technical presentations, this position will be secondarily responsible for other sales related tasks, such as market research. They may also discuss technical requirements with customers and modify and adjust products to meet customers’ specific needs. This position may be required to work with research and development (R&D) departments to help identify and develop new products.

Specific Responsibilities, done with coordination with the Military Business Development Manager:

• Prepare and deliver technical presentations to explain products to customers and prospective customers

• Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs, conduct gap analysis, and determine system requirements

• Work with business development team to understand customer requirements and provide sales support

• Secure and renew orders and arrange delivery

• Be the primarily responsible for technical portions of RFIs, RFPs, RFQs and white papers

•  In collaboration with the engineering team, plan and modify products to meet customer needs

•  Help customers solve problems with delivered equipment

•  Understand OEM purchasing and business development models for product accessories

•  Help in researching, developing, and making recommendations for new products

•  Assist with Military Aviation sales, support customer contract negotiations, and purchase order implementation as needed

•  20% to 25% travel to meet with customers and attend industry trade shows should be expected

Required Experience:

  • Experience Level: 2-5 years in military/government program management or business development
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (engineering or technical degree is preferred)
  • Knowledge of military acquisition and procurement processes a plus.
  • Established relationships with US Army PEO and PM officers a plus.
  • Military and/or military/government industry experience is a plus, but not required
  • Additional requirements:  Self-motivation, strong organizational skills, high attention to detail and a consummate level of business acumen are a must.  Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
